    .. .............. .. 27th May 1990 - 27,000 people visit Spike Island (Widnes) remaining one of the key events in British musical history 'A Woodstock for the baggy generation'. Nearly 20 years have passed but this musical unification of normal small town folk will never be forgotten. .... During summer 2008; Keighley, West Yorkshire based band 'Spike Island' was born. The band features 5 members from various other projects around the Keighley area. After spending months practising and working on new material the band finally arrived on the music scene in early 2009. .... We have a wide range of influences, all of these come together to help create our own unique sound. From alternative rock to ambient rock, ‘Spike Island’ has acquired a diverse array of fans. .... 2009 was a great year for the band. After playing Bingley Music Live we attracted quite a lot of attention around the West Yorkshire area. The festival gave us the opportunity to support huge artists such as 'Calvin Harris', 'Editors', 'VV Brown' and 'Reverend and the Makers'. Previous gigs have seen us support other artists such as 'Chris Helme' (ex Seahorses) and 'The Troubadors'. We have also gained interest from local radio stations including BCB radio and Drystone radio, both of which have aired live performances and interviews that should be playable on our myspace soon. ....     Charles 'Civ' Clegg - Rhythm guitar / Lead Vocals .... Kane Scott - Rhythm/Lead Guitar .... Luke Scott - Bass Guitar .... Kyle Minnock - Drums .... *Unfortunately, due to musical differences, singer Daniel Aspinall has decided to leave the band on good terms. We plan to remain as 'Spike Island' with singer and guitarist 'Charles Clegg' taking on Lead Vocals.
