Spikey Jay is primarily a mixer, but also a producer, engineer, songwriter, and musician. He is a classical clarinetist of 15 years, rock drummer of 14, and classical/rock guitarist of 11 years. With this training, he believes that he has developed the skills, but most importantly the ears, to create professional sounding mixes.
Spikey Jay works primarily with pop, rock, and metal artists, and his mixes are like skyscrapers - a powerful drum and bass section, that supports a tower of guitars, with a delicate vocal sitting on top. In each of his mixes, he strives to achieve a balance of power and clarity, and even in his most intense metal mix, every element is crystal clear.
His mixes have received acclaim from Grammy award-winners such as Kevin Killen, Tony Maserati, and Jim Anderson. In October 2007, he was featured on MTV-U as an up and coming music producer. He also received two "Best Mix" awards and one "Best Production" award during The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music's Remmy Awards in 2006 and 2008.
INSTRUMENTS: 12 Guitars (Among them, a John Petrucci Model Ernie Ball Music Man, Fender Strat, and an Ibanez 7-string S-Series), 1 Yamaha Bass (out of commission for the time being), Ludwig Drumset (8-piece + 3 roto toms + 7 cymbals), Yamaha PSR-350 Keyboard, and hopefully a decent digital piano soon /
