Spindle is a rock and roll band. We have no agenda other than to create music and perform all over the world. We are above nothing and probably into just about everything. We derive a great deal of joy from being around all things music- whether it be playing out live, recording, producing or just checking out a new band. We are four great friends who really love to play music. We have a long history filled with many ups and downs and will always look toward the future and continue to make the most expressive music that we can.

Biography and History

Spindle, hailing from Hoboken, NJ, delivers powerful, hypnotic and thought provoking music on their debut album, Long Road Home. From the opening title track, with its velvety harmonic choruses to the instantly accessible second track and beyond, you are reminded of everything from vintage Tom Petty to more modern artists such as the Foo Fighters. The band is musically adept and obviously gifted in creating catchy pop melodies and rich textures that shine through in its inspiring live performances.
Listening to Long Road Home is a river wide with an ever-changing current. Songs take you from feeling melancholy and introspective to energized and reinvigorated to be a fan of rock music. The lyrical style leans toward being impressionistic in its description of feelings rather than events. In fact, it seems that everyone who listens to Long Road Home has a different interpretation of the meaning which makes each listen an inimitable and rewarding experience!
"We took the limitations off of ourselves," says frontman Chris. "We built our own studio with an open mind, thinking let's take the time to do whatever it takes to get these songs to the next level. Because we really have a lot of music inside of us and a lot of different places we can go."
From the opening track, Long Road Home, which looks longingly back at an idyllic past, to the song Break Your Fall - which describes the emotions that lead singer Chris Woods was experiencing when his dog fell victim to tainted dog food from China, you can tell Spindle has something important to say. In fact, proceeds from the single release of Break Your Fall will be donated to a clearinghouse and public forum for animal safety.
As you trace your way through Long Road Home, the one thing that really stands out besides the pop sensibility of the work is its engineering craftsmanship. While some choose to follow the lo-fi undercurrent, the fullness and clarity that Spindle delivers jumps off the CD and out of your speakers rendering a refreshing and ethereal mix. Spindle mixes sweet acoustic passages with crunchy metal transitions and even folds in a little down home sing-along on their single, Sweet Margarite. Cohesively, Long Road Home is thought provoking, exciting music that also isn’t afraid to get a bit dark at times.
"So where do we go from here?", Chris asks on the album's second track. First, the band plans to permeate the new music landscape and again grow itself organically with their energetic live performance. "That's our thing," Don says. "We're a rock band. We like to get up there and put on a good show." All the while, the band will continue on the Long Road Home, toward the freedom and constant fresh perspective that music brings.
