spine is a brandbrandnew zine distro that lives in my bedroom in melbourne, australia. i carry what i enjoy. so: perzines/ political/ comics, mostly focusing on sex & gender.. there's a lot of american stuff in the catalogue, but i'm trying to build up australian (&particularly novocastrian!) stuff.
i'd really prefer to work with trade, not cash.
catalogue in progress:
if i'm honest um, me. newcastle. $1.50
perzine in which i make some sort of attempt to not bullshit. .. and its on very pretty brown paper.
doris ..22 cindy usa $2.20
there’s a reason why everyone loves doris. it’s just that damn good. this newsprint issue talks a lot about sex and gender: cindy’s experiences with girl jealousy, men, anarchafeminism. “keesley highschool” is one of the most moving pieces I’ve read in a long time.
Hic Jacet janaka, usa $8
this is no hastily photocopied typos&scribbles zine. Written by underground poet janaka, and put out by black ocean press, it’s all about his experiences working in a mortuary. I suppose the subject matter is morbid, but it’s beautiful too. Try not to look at the textbook eyelid stuffing picture for too long, though.
now it's jazz dylab over nookieland! $1
political/lyrical prose type thingies. dyl lives with me, but if he didnt, i could could comfortably go on about how awesome this is for ages.
avow .. 18 keith rosson, usa$3
avow is my favourite zine. it’s changed a lot since it’s beginnings as a punk and literature zine, and I’m pretty certain he didn’t anticipate writing quite so many stories about times he was beaten up. they’re good stories about getting beat up, though. and when he’s not writing about that, he writes about his art, the punk community, smoking too much, etc. keith’s done art for submission hold, against me! and a bunch more.
avow ..13 keith rosson, usa$3
the alphabet issue! “g is for getting caught pulling it to the grind”. this is probably the most attractive issue of avow. I actually have two copies of my own. just in case I sell out and something happens to one of them. sometimes I try to tell myself that’s sweet, not obsessive.
stroke my genius jen, newcastle$2
<
this is jens second zine. its about a huge month in her life: finishing school, moving out, living with her boyfriend. she's an amazing girl, and an amazing writer.

support cindy (of doris zine!), usa $3.50
birthdays & christmas / faking distance split korrina irwin & alex wrekk, usa $3
love like pop 3 rachael, wa, $2
