In the summer of 2004, on a sunny day in a green leafy park of Guildford by the river Wey, Lesley (vocals) and Julia (guitar) began writing music together.
Later that year, Lainey joined the project and enhanced the musical texture with her flute.....and the feminine sound of Solace was truly born.
The three girls regularly gigged around Guildford experimenting with different sounds and melodies, and collaborated with many artists who added to the bands emerging ambient vibe.
During 2005, Frog entered the Solace sphere on Julia's birthday and shortly found himself playing percussion, guitar, and subsequently enriched the spirit of Solace with his use of synthesisers and spirals. Joe Sherwood joined the project some time afterwards, and the addition of the bass added a solid foundation.
Having recorded this EP on the winter solstice of 2007, Solace look forward to working along side Joe Sherwood ( bass ) and Adam Knight ( Cajon ) in future performances and continuing their musical journey.
Solace have a unique and ethereal sound producing haunting and uplifting melodies. Their songs are a combination of many styles and influences. Guitar: Beautifully, Intricate, finger picked patterns. Flute: Flowing, classically influenced, eclectic harmonies and solos. Vocals: Emotive and sensual melodies. Synths: Spacey, swirly, psychedelic riffs. Bass: Solid, funky, grooves. Cajon: Vitalising and rousing rhythms
