Our sound is very Americana type, with a Native American angle.
We have been compared to Bill Miller, Joanne Shenandoah, etc.
The members of Spirit Wing are; Barbara Gregg-Andrews Christy, (vocals, flutes, percussion)[Munsee/Kiowa decent] , Barry Lee (vocals, guitar)[adopted Munsee], Chris Hawley (bass, percussion)[Munsee decent], and Doug Penglase (percussion/guitar). Known for their impassioned performances, they have appeared at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, and many other venues & Native American Festivals in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virgina, Texas, Kentucky, etc...... Their music comes from strong musical influences of their combined folk, acoustic, rock and country backgrounds. They also perform traditional Native songs that date back hundreds of years.
Spirit Wing was a 2006 finalist in the Best Folk/Country category of the Native American Music Awards for their second CD "To Future From Past". In 2007, Spirit Wing was again honored as a finalist in the World Music Category of the Native American Music Awards for their third CD, "Flutes, Drums and Guitars" (an all instrumental CD). All of their CD's have received critical acclaim with airplay on Native American radio programs throughout the country.
Every time that we listen & write music... play an instrument... dance... act in a play... or work in some audio/image/video engineering process... something is healing inside...
When we share it with friends... something is healing all over...
This is one of my favorite songs. I'm vending at Ontalaunee and hope to hear it this weekend! C u soon! Love, Cat. (ps: Barb, I can't wait to see the beaded Munsee hat on Barry!)
The thought manifests as the word; The word manifests as the deed; The deed developes into habit; And habit hardens into character; So watch the thought and its ways with care, And let it spring from love Born out of concern for all living beings....
As the shadow follows the body, as we think, so we become.

Wishing you a blessed and happy week to come. Peace ~TMH~
This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life...
The Iroquois Peacemaker Planted a Great White Pine on the shores of Onondaga and under the great tree all the people buried their weapons. At this time he said to the People the roots of the tree will go forth in the four directions and ALL people seeking Peace in their Hearts can follow these roots to the center and find shelter in this great peace.
We have many weapons that we use against ourselves and others. This season of Peace may we all remember to burry our own weapons and seek shelter in the center of our own inner peace. www. tracingrootsofpeace. com
