Originally formed in late 2004, Spirytus are a metal band from Nottingham. Using the dirty, dripping tones from seven and eight string guitars, hard-flavoured slap bass, pile driving drums and bone crushing vocals, Spirytus set out to deliver something a little bit extra than your average metal band. They have been described as a "Full speed car crash between Faith No More and Korn that will leave your bowels rumbling". Their stage show is just as lively and aggressive as their music which has attracted support slots with bands like American Head harge and interest from industry professionals.
Since Download Festival, Donington Park in June 2009, things have really started moving for Spirytus. Their singer, Ryan, was pulled from the crowd by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and got to sing with them in front of 60,000 people. This gave Spirytus a huge boost. Then, at the Kerrang Week of Rock Limp Bizkit headline show on Sat 1st Aug 09, Ryan went along and was immediately spotted by Durst, with Durst taking a copy of Spirytus' demo CD from Ryan during the show.
At the end of the show, Durst decided to play one more song, bringing Ryan up for a brutal, set finishing duet of Full Nelson. Fred Durst said at the beginning of the song, 'Ladies and Gentleman, he has a band called Spirytus... Remember that fucking name'...
2009 is set to be a big year for Spirytus... Watch this space...
