    SPITFIRE were born in Verona, Italy, in 1981, following the New Wave of British Heavy Metal spreading all over Europe and America: they can boast the title of the first metal band in their city, and over the years to come they will be the most popular Veronese rock band in Italy. The original composition of the group, vocals, two guitars, bass guitar and drums, have recorded a live demotape ("Spitfire", "Samurai", "Beyond Price") and also have made themselves known on a national scale thanks to radio programmes, interviews and reviews in fanzines and specialized magazines (the monthly "Rockerilla " presented the group as "the Italian Iron Maiden"). After many live concerts SPITFIRE reached in the spring of 1983 a stable line-up, featuring Giacomo Gigantelli on vocals and bass guitar, Stefano Pisani and Stefano Bianchini on guitars, Gaetano Avino on drums. At the beginning of 1984 SPITFIRE released the 7'' Blade Runner/A Quiet Man, published and distributed by Minotauro Records, Pavia, a new label interested in the Italian hard rock and heavy metal scene (Strana Officina, Paul Chain, Revenge). The record was distributed in Italy, Belgium, Holland, France, England, U.S.A., and was positively welcomed by the official and underground press, radio networks and public. This led to a short Italian tour from May to July 1984 reaching Verona, Bergamo, Pavia, Naples (where SPITFIRE played together with Strana Officina and Vanadium in the Palatenda Partenope full of fans); the band played also in some metal festivals. Currently the 7'' is a rare piece for metal collectors; it was reissued on February 2009 by Minotauro Records. New troubles slowed down the work of the group during 1985, until the ultimate trio line-up Giacomo Gigantelli (vocals and bass guitar), Stefano Pisani (guitar) and Gaetano Avino (drums). During that year there were intense contacts with foreign labels interested in the Italian rock scene (Rave-On Records, Metal Blade, Axe Killer, Concret Warrior, King Classic). This was the period of SPITFIRE's full creative maturity: they played live up to the end of 1986 and left as a last inheritance the demo "Heroes in the Storm" ("Hurricane - I'm Free", "Merchants of Death", "Shadow of the Axe", "Stones of Venice", "Heroes in the Storm"), including the sessions for an album that should have been published for the King Classic label, which was never released due to the sudden band's break-up. In the meantime, irony of fate, the American magazine "Aardshock" defined SPITFIRE as a future star of the metal universe and two months after the break-up they received a proposal to include one of their tracks in an American metal compilation and the album contract from King Classic ready for signing… In 2002 the independent label Andromeda releases the cd "Heroes in the Storm", a collection of all the songs recorded by the band; in 2004 there is a one-night SPITFIRE reunion (Giacomo Gigantelli, Stefano Pisani, Gaetano Avino) for an unique concert on the occasion of the 80's Italian Metal Legion Festival in Domegliara (VR - Italy). From that concert was issued in the same year the cd "Live Reunion". At the beginning of 2008 SPITFIRE join again for the pre-production of "Time and Eternity", the next band's release for the label My Graveyard Productions, featuring songs composed between 1982 and 1985, and never recorded. -------------------------------------------------------------------- SPITFIRE nasce a Verona nel 1981, cavalcando l'onda dei nuovi gruppi hard rock e heavy metal che dall'Inghilterra conquistano Europa e America: può vantare il titolo di primo rappresentante cittadino del genere, e per anni sarà la rock band veronese con più seguito sul territorio nazionale. La formazione, composta inizialmente da voce, due chitarre, basso e batteria, subisce fin da subito gli inevitabili assestamenti, ma nel frattempo registra un demotape dal vivo in presa diretta ("Spitfire", "Samurai", "Beyond Price" - 1982) e si fa conoscere anche a livello nazionale tramite articoli su fanzine, trasmissioni radio e recensioni sulla stampa specializzata (il mensile "Rockerilla" definisce il gruppo "gli Iron Maiden italiani"). Dopo varie esibizioni dal vivo SPITFIRE raggiunge nella primavera del 1983 una formazione stabile, con Giacomo Gigantelli alla voce e basso, Stefano Pisani e Stefano Bianchini alle chitarre, Gaetano Avino (unico membro fondatore rimasto nella band) alla batteria. All'inizio del 1984 SPITFIRE dà alla luce il 45 gg Blade Runner/A Quiet Man, pubblicato e distribuito dalla Minotauro Records di Pavia, una nuova etichetta che esplora il panorama italiano hard rock e heavy metal (Strana Officina, Paul Chain, Revenge). Il disco, distribuito in Italia, Belgio, Olanda, Francia, Inghilterra, Usa, viene accolto positivamente dalla stampa (ufficiale e underground), dalle radio e dal pubblico, e porta a un breve tour italiano che dal maggio al luglio 1984 tocca, oltre naturalmente a Verona, città come Bergamo, Pavia, Napoli (dove SPITFIRE suona con Strana Officina e Vanadium in un Palatenda Partenope gremito di fans) e vede la partecipazione ad alcuni metal festival. Attualmente il 45 gg è un raro pezzo da collezione per gli appassionati del genere, ed è stato ristampato dalla Minotauro Records nel febbraio 2009. Altri problemi di formazione rallentano il lavoro del gruppo durante il 1985, fino all'assestamento sul trio dei rimasti Giacomo Gigantelli (voce e basso), Stefano Pisani (chitarra) e Gaetano Avino (batteria). Durante tutto l'anno sono intensi i contatti con etichette straniere interessate al panorama rock italiano (Rave-On Records, Metal Blade, Axe Killer, Concret Warrior, King Classic). Questo è il periodo della piena maturità compositiva di SPITFIRE, che si esibisce ancora fino alla fine del 1986 e lascia come ultima testimonianza il demo "Heroes in the Storm" ("Hurricane - I'm Free", "Merchants of Death", "Shadow of the Axe", "Stones of Venice", "Heroes in the Storm"), che contiene le sessioni per un album che avrebbe dovuto uscire per la King Classic, e che è rimasto praticamente inedito a causa dell'improvviso scioglimento del gruppo. Nel frattempo, ironia della sorte, la rivista americana "Aardshock "definisce SPITFIRE futura stella dell'universo metal, e due mesi dopo lo scioglimento arrivano la proposta per inserire un pezzo in una compilation metal americana e il contratto della King Classic pronto per la firma… Nel 2002 l'etichetta indipendente Andromeda pubblica il cd "Heroes in the Storm", che raccoglie tutte le incisioni realizzate fino ad allora dalla band; nel 2004 la band si riforma nella formazione a tre (Giacomo Gigantelli, Stefano Pisani, Gaetano Avino) per un unico concerto in occasione dell'80's Italian Metal Legion Festival a Domegliara (VR), dove tra l'altro si ipotizza la proposta di una edizione di "Heroes in the Storm" su vinile con un paio di inediti, a cura dell'etichetta greca Eat Metal Records.     Vanexa were one of the first Italian heavy metal band, their self-titled LP was consecrated by the national press as the first italian heavy metal album. Born in Savona in 1978, their sound was typically Anglo-Saxon evidence abroad where they were cited by several magazines as proponents of the new wave of heavy metal
    band from late '70s early '80s. They also participated as a headliner at the first heavy metal festival held in Certaldo Italian in Florence May 21, 1983. In their careers have also participated in various compilations including metal of Metal Mountain, exit the United States, with the song "Hanged Man" and Metal Italy with the song "It's Over". In 2007 a CD reissue of their eponymous debut album with 3 bonus tracks and unreleased second album "Back From The Ruins" with 5 bonus tracks taken from a live concert of 1984 was released in 2010 is out "1979-80" a compilation of early material ( totally sung in italian) released on vynil and cd supports. We needed a new fresh band with a new fresh sound. VANEXA spearheaded what was termed 'the new wave of heavy metal'. They were a more than welcome addition of the italian hard rock/metal scene. Yet, this debut offering offers more energy and speed than actual accomplishment. In 1983 VANEXA released their self-titled debut album, starting what would become a legendary career for the band. They were one of many promising bands in the New Wave of Heavy Metal movement at the time. Following the success of Vanexa, the band released released their second album Back From The Ruins in 1988. The album featured fan-favourites "Midnight Wolves", "Creation", "Hanged Man". This new album contained many tracks that had been written prior to the release of the debut album, but were considered surplus. With songs already shaped on the road well in advance, only two new tracks were written for the album; Hanged Man and Creation. The band adopted a different approach for their 1994 studio album, titled Against The Sun. This was not a concept album, though it was themed loosely around the idea of social problems. It featured, for the first time in the band's history, synthesized Keyboards and guitars sounds to add textures and layers to the sound. Though considered different from the norm of Vanexa sounds, it a good response across the world, especially for new incredible voice of Roberto TIRANTI. The VANEXA lyrics contains literature quotes about famous books/movies or social problems fusioned in great heavy metal sound.
