Splashgirl happens when Andreas Løwe plays the piano in the same area of acoustics as Jo Berger Myhre plays the doublebass and Andreas Knudsrød plays the drums.
From time to time we invite other musicians to join the band. So far, we've had the pleasure of being joined by Joel Wästberg (sax), Lars Kurverud (bassclarinet), Sebastian Grüchôt (violin), Anders Hofstad Sørås (pedalsteel) and Lasse Passage (acoustic guitar/vocals) on different occasions.
Influences
Very much and different stuff, but it might be obvious that we enjoy the music of Paul Bley, Earth, Steve Reich, Oren Ambarchi, Erik Satie, Sigur Rós and of course our comrades in Kennel Collective.
Still acoustic, the music on "Arbor" takes a more minimalistic and defined collective approach where the use of long, sustained sounds binds together a broad palette of string- and percussion-instruments.
"Doors. Keys. leans towards the cerebral, but its occasional forays into fiercer territory give it a physicality that belies its overall dark nature. Party music it isn't, but Splashgirl's debut (...) posits a new direction for an overburdened format, keeping it fresh, innovative and, most of all, thoroughly modern." - Allaboutjazz.com
"Every note, every theme and every pause seems well thought-through. At the same time, this music is difficult to listen to in an analythic, distant way, and it..s hard not to be engaged by it. It sounds organic, natural of tree and strings and the band stands out as a gathered collective that breathes together." - Jazznytt
"The band suprises you all the time, makes you curious about what will happen around the next corner." - Dagsavisen
"An original addition to Norwegian improvisation music." - Dagbladet
"Splashgirl is a collective with a huge potential which is going to be very interesting to follow." - TV2
"The overall is impressing, we especially notice the very excellent pianist and composer Andreas Løwe." - Avisa Nordland

"Simultaneously demanding and appealing, Splashgirl are a group that are truly an emerging force, and will undoubtedly be making their way towards a larger listenership very soon - and rightly so." - Jazzland
"Giovanissimi allievi di Jan Bang giunti alla prima registrazione con la piccola meritevole etichetta AimRecords (di recente ha cambiato nome in aimsoundcity), sono stati sicuramente tra le novità più interssanti viste al festival." - italy.allaboutjazz.com
