Splinter Cells was formed by Steven Yasgar and Joshua Syx (both previous members of Minneapolis-based band The Swiss Army) in August of 2007.
With the demise of Syx’s short-lived previous project, Lavradores, and Yasgar’s hiatus from his rhythmic role in the folk-inspired Roma Di Luna, the two saw it as an opportunity to reunite... Focusing their creative energies in unique new directions, and trying to push the boundaries of their traditional ’rock’ backgrounds, with emphasis on simplicity and melody. Shortly thereafter, the two were joined by Julie Palm (National Bird) to complete their rhythm section. The trio began performing in Minneapolis around November of 2007, and have already begun to gain notoriety amongst their peers and local music-heads alike...
They are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut recording project, which, allegedly, falls somewhere between a long EP and a short LP... The project is being overseen by Minneapolis native Knol Tate (Askeleton), and was recorded at various secret locations around Minneapolis, MN and Hudson, Wi.. The anticipated release date is spring 2008...
"Splinter Cells played melodic rock that was characterized by its ability to get your attention, suck you in, and keep you listening..." -David de Young, Howwatheshow.com
