Formed in Nottingham 2001 is was Splint's preliminary aim to produce unique, powerful, emotional heavy music. Drawing from influences such as A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden they started penning songs at a feverous rate. By late 2002 there arsenal of songs were bursting at the seems. They spent the rest of the year planning small regional shows and tightening up to become a formidable live act. Mid 2003 it became clear that the passion to increasingly evolve was being held up by internal problems. This problem was quickly remedied. Simon Hutchby who had more recently spent many years with EARTHTONE9 joined and Splint now had a stable line up… Leon Wiley [Vocals/Guitar] Mike Bett [Guitar] Dylan Griffiths [Bass] Simon Hutchby [Drums] With the band settled on a stable line up they decided to make a recording that reproduced the distinct sonic characteristics that made SPLINT such an interesting live act. In February 2004 SPLINT recorded 4 tracks at Nottingham's Pristine studio. Engineered and mixed by Johnny Carter (Ex PITCHSHIFTER) and Paul Yeadon (Ex BIVOUAC). The result 'A PLACID REMINDER' - SPLINTS debut E.P.
