PURCHASE MIGHTY MYSTIC MUSIC HERE ON SNOCAP
TO CREATE the perfect musical cocktail you fuse a little bit of OCD, with a hint of style, a splash of insane humor mixed with an excessive amount of high voltage musical production and the product is Boston, Massachusetts-based music producer Mike Cip a/k/a “Cip.”
AT THE curious age of four when most kids are learning the how to count and string words together, Cip attended recording sessions with his mother and aunt, both singers, and began educating himself on the ABCs of studio life. Fast-forward to his teenage years, essentially parentless (with a father he never knew and an absentee mother), rather than turn to a life of crime, Cip utilized his natural ear for music by taking mixtape DJing a step further and seriously pursuing musical production. Cip’s flair for melodic compositions, attention to intricate details, and reputation as a studio prankster Cip instantly morphed into one of the local scene’s most notorious young producers. Cip’s status as an exceptionally talented producer grew faster than his surroundings could handle and, at one point, even while living out of a car, Cip continued to cultivate brilliant musical productions by setting up a makeshift studio at a friend’s home. From those humble beginnings sprung Cip’s production company, Split2nd Entertainment.
IN 2002, Split2nd released “The Countdown,” critically-acclaimed 11-track compilation featuring Boston’s brightest up-and-coming urban artists. By 2004, Split2nd became known as a premier Reggae production facility, signing New England’s leading Reggae artist, Mighty Mystic, and, over the years, the union sparked hits such as “Riding on the Clouds,” “Treat Her Right,” “Rodeo” featuring Elephant Man and “Here I Am” featuring Shaggy and Lelie. Adding to his Reggae clout, Cip produced the “Attack Dem Riddim,” released by T.O.K. and featuring such notable artists as Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Tami Chynn and the Monster Twins.
ALTHOUGH earning a name as a highly-respected Reggae hit maker, Cip began gaining momentum as sought after pop, R&B and Hip-Hop producer. To add to an already impressive resume, Cip has gone on to produce the track “Blood is Thicker than Water” for inclusion on superstar Pitbull’s famed album “El Mariel” and on the Fox television show “K-Ville.” Continuing his trend of stylish and creative music, the Cip-produced cut “The Lonely Road,” as performed by newcomer Santilli, is featured in season six of HBO’s mega-hit series “Entourage.”
CIP'S eclectic sound emphasizing strong melodies with club sounds fused to non-club genres, mixed with sounds made from scratch and along with his need to bring nothing less than creative excellence and easy-going fun to the studio, clearly solidifies Cip’s status as a versatile producer. From the streets to the studio, Cip strives to bring fresh and invigorating music to his clients, fans and audience.
