The Mythological Creature Quiz http://www.lifescript.com/Quizzes/Fun/The_Mytholog...
Only a few questions to answer and find out what mythological creature you are.I am a Nymph
You are often unpredictable, and some men find you a little scary. You are viewed as sexually mysterious. A nymph can be wild and is often close to nature. | | Music | Okay, I've tried this and failed. Just too old and remember too many songs and singers. What I will say is that my taste is eclectic. Although the music itself is important, for the most part it has to be singable. The words are much more so. They have to tell a story that I can relate to in some personal way. Example: My Immortal by Evanescence, or Sarah Mclachlan's Angel and Elsewhere. Or just represent a time, place that is filled with good feelings like Paul Simon's Graceland album. Specific memories like Melissa Etheridge's I Will Never Be The Same, and Neil Diamond's Forever In Bluejeans. They might make me think of certain individuals as in Is There Anybody Out There by Pink Floyd, or Highwayman by the Highwaymen. Then there are the ones that simply make me want to move like the theme from Flashdance, or Don Mclean's American Pie. Oh, and let's not forget the guitar solos, and the bluegrass fiddles, or Ray Lynch's "popcorn popper" albums like Deep Breakfast and No Blue thing. They make me remember time periods in my life. And the laughter and sensical nonsense of They Might Be Giants. Suffice it to say, music is integral and always an intense part of my being. Until I started writing poetry, singing was my only outlet to express those really big or little, and what some would define as "inappropriate", responses to the world around me and life in general.
| | Movies | Again, I am all over the board on this one. At the top is Terminator 11, and it isn't because of Arnie. I didn't like him much until this flick. My son and I sat one night and counted the words he spoke in one of the Conan movies and it totaled 17 throughout. It might have been more but we didn't tally the grunts because they weren't full words. It is the special effects in the movie I really love because they remind me of things I have actually seen. And I really think the relationship between the terminator and the teenager John is quite believable and wonderfully endearing. I also liked the fact that Linda Gray played a woman who didn't need the men to protect her and tell her what to do.
Then there is Serendipity, a bit of a sleeper with John Cusack. It may be a wonderful little romantic tale, but it's based on the concept of synchronicity which is another word for the title's name.
And of course, I can't forget The Fisher King starring Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges. I never get tired of watching it and used it in my classes to explore archetypal energies. So many others: The Messenger, Dragonheart, ET, Benny and June, The Mask, City of Angels, Tootsie, and the old Grapes of Wrath with Henry Fonda.I could go on, there's the original Psycho, and so much more, but I think I've said enough already. | | Television | For many years, I didn't own or have a working tv. It has only been in this past year that I was given one. I deliberately do not watch it during daylight hours, and curtail my time in front of it to a couple of hours in the evening because I am so easily hypnotized by it. Strangely enough, I stumbled onto the first episode of American Idol and found myself questionably hooked. I voted for David Cook and because I was curious about my own behavior, began writing daily again after not doing so for almost a full year. The other programs I watch when I'm not reading are NCIS, Numbers, Cold Case, Without A Trace, and occasionally Law and Order. Have also turned on PBS a few times and been quite entertained.Oh, and I watch So You Think You Can Dance when I remember to turn it on. Think that's a hangover from the AI thingy. | | Books | Can you say,"bit of a bibliophile?" I used to manage a new/used bookstore? Have been a veracious reader since my pre-teens? It might be best if I don't even begin? Categories might be more efficient. Any subject that interests me at any moment (see interests). I actually own a collection of Dean Koontz because he and I are on some similar, or parallel psychic path. Everytime I pick up one of his novels, I invariably find something that pertains directly to the place I am in. Go figure. Mostly, during the past year, I've been reading fiction. Suspense, mystery, and psychological thrillers.David Baldacci, Greg Isles, jeffery Deaver, Lisa Gardner, Iris Johanson, and Janet Evonovich for fun. Most recently, opened a book that's been on my shelves for more than twelve years titled "The Creative Process", edited by Brewster Ghiselin. Got my mind blown and all the cobwebs are still fluttering in the breeze. Never got past the Introduction, and will enthusiastically go back and read that several more times. I actually have a library in my present home, one of the reasons I grabbed this place as soon as I saw it. Have dreamed of just such a space for over half of my life. Hugs me. | | Heroes | Heroes, for the most part, are the role models we choose to emmulate, whether because of their behavior or their purported beliefs. I have had many, throughout the phases of my life, beginning with my Father and Mother, and ranging through my children, college professors, poets and musicians. The one I will mention here, because she is the most important one of all, is a young woman named Joan. She threw open the door to a world I couldn't have dreamed existed, changed the course of my life, and all of its details. She helped me to see, to hear, and to know what I would otherwise have missed. And, on top of all of that, she allowed me to find the hero within myself. Thanks hon, you remain the most incredible human being I have ever met. |

Elizabeth, sometimes called Betty ~Flexwriter~'s Blurbs |
About me:
Splitting Darkness
Wear a small silver ring
on little finger
of my right hand.
Face of an owl,
fierce eyes staring.
Friend of night,
splitting darkness
on silent wings,
seeking what lives
only in shadows.
Rides my pen
watching words spill
from its tip, filling
pages with blue/black
ink. Bloodletting,
getting to the heart
of things.

Who I'd like to meet:
Emily Dickenson, but she was so shy and retiring, that we probably couldn't get past a whispered, "Hello". Maybe a fragile wave in passing? Or, Anne Sexton because I love her smokey gravelly voice, and her passionate insanity. Not sure about Alan Ginsberg, might be too shocked or, maybe disappointed by my own expectations. Have met Lucille Clifton and Robert Bly and found myself too awe struck to speak beyond a stammered "Thank You" when they gave me their autographs. David Cook, because he is so approachable and I might be able to sqeak past my admiration, and get to "What the hell were you thinking?" There are so many others, and I remain a much better observer than participant. Besides, these empty spaces remind me of forms that need to be filled out and that means I get test anxiety. Don't want to miss anything or leave anyone out. Tend to mess it up and leave them blank
