The everyday occurence of life. The need to succeed. The constant assualt of my intellegence by the hollow rap lyrics being force fed into my subconscience....Toussaint L'Ovetture, Shaka Zulu......Oh yeah, Erykah Badu, Gill Scott Heron, Outkast, Missy E., Jill Scott, The Roots, and of course, Common.

Spoken X exploded onto the poetry scene in late 2003. Quickly recognized for his lyrical capacity, he was the rookie poet on Tampa's 2004 Southern Fried Slam poetry team. Since then, Spoken X has grown exponentially as a poet and as a writer. His first project “The Damage Is Done” is a passionate testament to the trials and struggles of the African American community. Spoken X has graced stages from Miami to New York to Louisiana. He was part of the 2005 Tampa slam team and 2006 Ft. Lauderdale slam team, which placed third in the event. In New Orleans, Spoken X participated in the Akoben Poetry Festival and Slam and won the erotic portion of the slam.
