S.P.O.N.G.E is Mohamed Rahmat on vocals, Kenneth Tan on lead guitars, Nor Syafiq on rhythm guitars, Muhammad Syairazi on bass and A. Qader on drums. This new line-up was formed in June 2007 after ex-bassist Risdian parted with the band due to personal commitments. Syairazi, a personal friend, has since stepped in, introducing his own bass sound to music, which has drawn comparisons to bands like Coldplay and Incubus, while still managing to stand apart from his peers.
“News” a song about love and the frustration of being in love was S.P.O.N.G.E’s first song. Combining a funky rhythm guitar riff in the verse and a touch of atmospheric rock in the chorus, the debut single captures the diversity of the band’s influences.
The band’s second song, “For Fathers” reveals their serious side and the ability to write songs on themes that are close to our hearts, yet rarely acknowledged by modern music.
“Dreams”, “Come Home”, “Breathless” and “Today” have followed, showcasing the band’s different musical sides. Armed with a set of songs which consistently challenge the ear, yet infuses pop-sensibilities and sing-along choruses, S.P.O.N.G.E has played to crowds at Club Momo, DXO, Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore, winning fans with their music and personalities.
The band is now in the process of writing demos, with the aim of releasing a full album by early 2008.

Hey Ken... I read your comment on SOFT. I like your attitude and the way you see the music industry in Singapore. Your vision is really rare in Singapore.
Regarding your points, if you ever need links to sites that you think that might help you (eg. podcast stations, internet radios, playing venues here in the US, etc), do let me know.
Always here to support other Singaporeans!
Rocking faithfully, Elsa Faith Soul Distraction
P.S: Your songs have nice melodies. TODAY is the best song! :)
