Our hero first appeared in the late '90's, as the singer and guitarist of Belfast band, Spiggy Holes. Aahh... they were good.
He then disappeared alone, armed with a ukulele and a saxophone, into the deepest darkest hills of Andalucia, where he bore witness to its coldest winter and hottest summer in living memory.
Then, without warning, the former Mr Holes reappeared in 2004, armed with a beard, by the bonnie banks of Glasgow City.
"Who are you?" they asked.
"Sporting Hero" came the reply. "I've been away, but now I'm here to sing and play, if you'll have me."
Have him they did, shoving him onto a stage at T in the Park for his first gig!
After that, our hero decided to stick around and not disappear again.
Just to make sure, the good people of Switchflicker Records keep tabs on him by releasing his songs on 7" EPs. Aahh... they are good.

I'll see if i can find any recordings done with my improvised microphone. They were instrumentals then as i didn't think sticking a headphone earpiece to my mouth would work haha. Plus i didnt' really sing much at the time...
I'm not sure my stuff is really considered lo-fi anymore seeing as i use a computer and some reasonable equipment...but i do record in my loungeroom...and i'm a self taught recording engineer/producer...that counts right?
Also, Mike Hastings EP out now on Lucky Number Nine Records. Available from Mono, Avalanche, Oxfam Music and online from www. luckynumbernine. co. uk (shameless self promotion!)

any news on puppy front? By the way Star is somehow or other just beginning to stumble towards behaving herself. Touch wood, walk three times in a circle and bow wow
I haven't got the website address to hand but if you dial up 'strathclyde police puppy cam' and then 'blogpig' you will be able to see a load of adorable spanial puppies
just a note to let you know that I truly like your rendition of the Magnetic Fields' The Way You Say Goodnight. Roy sent it along last week. By the way, I hope you have a great time down south (or up north-west from where I'm writing this) this Friday. Take care!
