              Who I'd like to meet:
--A Wild Wednesday in the World of Sports NFL NEWS... Ray Lewis Lewis asked to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys but the Baltimore Ravens stepped up to the plate and offered him a new contract Wednesday that has convinced him to stay aboard. The Raven’s management decided Ray should finish up his professional football career in Baltimore with the Ravens. The soon to be 34 year old Lewis has agreed to a multi-year contract to continue playing for the Ravens, supposedly worth $21 million dollars a year for three years, according to ESPN.com. That’s a cool $7 mill’ a year for the next three years. That’s not a bad paycheck for the 13 year NFL vet. Raven’s general manager Ozzie Newsome expressed to the team’s website that “This will allow Ray to finish his career as a Raven.” Lewis actually had this to say about his long standing career as a Raven “Wow! … To be with the same team with the same fans for an entire career, that doesn’t happen in the NFL.” He went on to say “I don’t think a athlete can a greater legacy then to be able to stay in one place for an entire career.” It is incredible that Lewis has managed to spend his entire career with one NFL team. If Lewis wraps his career after at the end of his new three year contract he will have played 16 years in the NFL for one team. That’s big. Lewis in good company, recognized player Charles E. Green (aka “Mean Joe” Green) also played for one NFL team, the Pittsburg Steelers (13 seasons). Here’s a note: the Steelers just so happened to be the team that ended the Ravens 2009 superbowl run and went on to become the superbowl champs. This seems like a good deal for all parties involved. Congratulations. *** MLB NEWS.. Manny Ramirez Ramirez and the Dodgers finally came up with a contract they can all agree on Wednesday. For the next two years Manny will don the white and blue Dodger uniform for a cool $45 million. That works out to be a little over $20 million a year just for swinging a baseball bat. Talk about a recession proof job. The Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, GM Ned Colletti and manager Joe Torre met with Ramirez Wednesday morning to discuss the contract, which gives Ramirez the option to opt out after the first year. This story had a happy ending but getting there was filled with drama. There were bad feelings, from Ramirez to the Dodgers upper management and they right back at him. Despite it all they were able to hammer out a deal for the next two years and according to people close to this situation say Ramirez will receive $25 million for the first year and if he stays with the team he will get the remaining $20 million next season. This contract also has a no-trade clause which should come in handy for Ramirez should he want to stay with the boys in blue & white. According to a Dodger source when Manny and the Dodgers management met “the meeting went well.” Now it’s off to training camp for Ramirez who leaves out Thursday if he passes his physical exam set for the Wednesday before, say inside sources. Torre and Colletti flew back to Cali’ from Dodgers training camp on Tuesday to meet with Ramirez and his reps. A quick history lesson on who Manny Ramirez is for all of you who may not know this left fielder: He was born Manuel Aristides Ramirez Onelicda in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on May 30, 1972. He started his American Major League baseball career in Cleveland Indians in 1993. He later moved over to the Boston Red Sox (2001 – 2007) where he helped win the first world series for the Red Sox since Babe Ruth played for the team back in the roaring 1920s. Ramirez moved from Boston to the Los Angeles last season and Dodger fans could not be happier. And with the signing of the two year contract the Dodger fans have at least two more seasons to fall deeper in love with Ramirez and the Dodgers as a whole.*** 2009 SUPERBOWL CHAMPION PITTSBURG STEELERS! --SPM wants to congratulate the Pittsburg Steelers for pulling out a last minute Superbowl win. (NEW) FEATURE ARTICLE ARCHIVE: UPDATE on Michael Vick Former Falcons QB: Could He Be Coming Back To Atlanta. Michael Vick, now 28, was sentenced to 23 months in the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary Camp back in December of 2007. As part of his plea agreement, he was to serve at least 18 months in prison. It's been a year (as of December 10, 2008) since he was tossed in prison and the rumor mill has been spinning out of control. There have been several rumors surrounding Vick's like did he play for the prison team? Did he really buy a $200,000 Mercedes-Benz to drive himself to prison? Is he filing bankruptcy? Will he be released from prison early? Is he coming back to the NFL to play for the Atlanta Falcons? Yada yada yada… but which rumors are true and which are just rumors? Well, SPM did a little digging and found that the rumor of Vick suiting up and playing for the prison team is just a rumor. Prison officials said he might have thrown the ball around to some of the prison inmates out on the yard, but as far as him actually suiting up and playing for the prison team, it just isn’t true. The prison season had already begun by the time Vick arrived. Then there’s the rumor of him buying a $200,000 Benz to drive himself to prison and then having to file bankruptcy. There is a little truth to this. The word on the street is he went on a quarter-million-dollar ($250,000) shopping spree, part of which was spent on a new Benz, which was said to have cost $100,000, not $200,000. So the spending of the money part is true, but spending it all on one big ticket item, such as a Mercedes-Benz, that’s just a rumor. However, when it comes to him filing bankruptcy, that part is apparently true. A brother’s hurting right now and he along with his attorneys are in the process of talking with the courts to see if they can come up with a budget for a Chapter 11. His bills must far exceed his earnings – BUT WAIT... he isn’t earning anything at the moment so if he has any bills they are probably well overdue. You see, boys and girls, frivolous spending and reckless living can land you straight in the poorhouse (or even the big house.) As far as the rumor of Vick being released from prison early (May or June of 2009), this seems to have some truth to it as well. As part of his plea agreement, he agreed to serve 18 months in prison, after which he would be released to a halfway house where he would serve the remainder of his 23-month sentence. Vick being from Virginia, that’s where he would more than likely be assigned to a halfway house. Now let’s talk about the rumor of Vick coming back to the NFL, more specifically the Atlanta Falcons. Although he and the Falcons GM have talked over the past few months while Vick’s been incarcerated, there’s been no definitive plan for a Mike Vick homecoming. Even if Vick wanted to play ball in Atlanta, he would first need to get released, then apply for and be granted permission to move to a halfway house in Atlanta, and finally, tryout for and win a spot on the Falcons squad. If the Falcons decide to pass on bringing Vick back to the team, which seems to be the way things are looking according to NFL insiders, then he would have to shop around for a team who would have him. It may prove to be a difficult undertaking, considering he can’t leave the state in which he’s assigned to a halfway house. And from what I’ve heard, receiving a guest pass to leave the state isn’t so easy. This QB may just get shut out of the NFL after all! Mission accomplished, PETA! *

Well yesterday while flying in from Dallas to LaGuardia, NYC, I literally ran into "Mr. I Shot Myself". While @ baggage claim he was with this bombshell women and a beautiful daughter, and the shocking of this encounter is that he said sorry excuse me then proceded to have a 15 minute conversation as if he hasnt been able to have an exchange with any person in years. By the end of the conversation I was sympatheic to him, his family, and understand this young man has already realized that this down fall has affected so many people around him. His wife stood there like a drill sargent but realized as we continued to chat eveything from politics to Notorious film coming out, that I wasnt a threat. We should pray for this young man because if he gets through this, I believe hes a changed man already.
