Founded in early 2007 as a side project for Markus Flaherty's solo music away from the rock circuit, Spotlight Cannibal are a unique fusion of blues/pop/rock/jazz, centered on great song writing and executed by talented and experienced musicians. The line up has changed a little over the years with the dynamic focused on guitars today. Markus has gained notoriety through his trade mark gravel vocal tone, and used to play in the signed rock band "Without Grace" along with SC member Jonty Finn. Today sees Jay Evans (guitars) and Gareth Sandhu (bass) joining forces to bring together the new sound both on record and on the stage, whilst external member Will Greener and Tom Worrall are on the road with other projects. SC will be touring in 2009, releasing a mini album and debut album, as well as the single "The Point" in May 2009, set to feature on Spanish and Italian TV.
Still in its infancy, Spotlight Cannibal have released a single "this cage" on both limited physical release and on itunes, featured on the soundtrack to an upcoming feature length british gangster flick, "Night Dragon", written a great stack of songs, played their socks off and delighted audiences over and over again!
Collaborating with Ruggero Robin (guitar/composer for Zucchero, Bocelli, Giorgia, Paul Young) in Italy, performing with James Blunt and Laura Pausini, and supporting the likes of "Alabama 3 you can expect big things from this band in the future.
Spotlight Cannibal are also scheduled to release a 6 track EP by the late Spring.
