Spotlight on Anarchism's Blurbs

About me:
Spotlight on Anarchism is a series of talks, workshops, and discussions surrounding contemporary activism and how anarchism relates to social movements against racism, sexism, class exploitation, homophobia, and the state. We all know what anarchists are against--domination in all of its forms. This series seeks to answer questions about what anarchists are for, what we do, why we do it, and how anarchists and other community activists can work together towards the creation of a new world.

The series will be in four parts and will be held at Charter Oak Cultural Center. Each piece will be announced as speakers are confirmed.

The last part of the series will be an all-day event at Charter Oak on November 8th from noon-11pm, featuring a number of workshops and tabling from a variety of local activist groups.

This series is sponsored by Hartford Food Not Bombs, the Area Radical Reading Group of Hartford (ARRGH!), Creating Local Autonomy and Solidarity in Hartford (CLASH), and the Hartford area Students for a Democratic Society.

Atheist Insurgency	Oct 5 2008 1:07 AM The majority of our culture has for centuries submitted with unquestioning faith and loyalty to charismatic messengers who make unsubstantiated claims and promises that can only be fulfilled after the end of life. We take a close look at the willingness of many to submit to surrogate deities (theoretically) in an attempt to alleviate subconscious childhood fears of eternal damnation. The authorities that take advantage of this human frailty instead of standing on fairness and justice must be dealt with, and it looks like anarchism has a rich history dealing with unfair authority figures.

Dr. PiNNeR	Sep 29 2008 9:24 PM hello... r u really from ct? it's good to see not everyone here is a sheep... whereabouts are you in this fine state of ours? i'm over the southeast area... it's really just a suburban parking lot for the city... that's where i'd really like to be... way more of an activist scene and far more resources... ofcourse gentrification made it impossible to afford and most of the real squats are dead or not even squats anymore ... pardon my rambling... i'm pinner, what's ur name?
