Sounds Like
... well, Spoz really. Someone once said I sounded like Elvis Costello - could have meant Abbott and Costello possibly.
Spoz is not my real name. It's actually Giovanni Esposito... 'Spoz' being the bit between the 'E' and the 'ito' (kind of).
I'm a sort of poet. The sort, in fact, that has been published, recorded, been on the telly and the radio, won awards, is a member of the renowned 'New October Poets', taken part in so many festivals, I've lost count and even been commissioned by the BBC. The sort of poet that isn't quite everybody's cup of tea, though, could be yours...
"No flowery language here, I laughed out loud and so did my eleven year old daughter" - Ryan's Gig Guide ...
"The only poet I know who rhymed 'Hound of the Baskervilles' with 'pound and a flask of pills' and made it make sense" - Birmingham Post ......
A singer, songwriter, playwright and musical writer. I produced and directed self penned musicals in Birmingham and Edinburgh. I've written and recorded albums with several bands (Stereogram, Sordid Details, Raging Bullfrog to name but three) as well as a solo artiste and appeared before the Queen mum before she popped her cloggs(RIP) ...
"You'll be up for a bostin good laugh-more please!" - Edinburgh Three Weeks...
"I was blown away by this hilarious, energetic musical" - The Bromsgrove Standard ...
Meander through my website (www.spoz.net) or Myspace take only memories, leave only footprints ... and some messages if you like...
Warning : May contain nuts and rhyming language
Hey Spoz! We're getting really exciter about Young Readers festival here! Looking forward to seeing you and checking out your Poetry and Film-Making workshops. xx
Hope your 2009 as got off to a flying start. Just to say I am bringing out a concept poetry album for charity. Please see below for an overview.
The House…
“The House…” is not just a collection of poems but rather an epic audio experience. It is a fusion of poetry and drama within an overriding concept that develops throughout. There are verses of rhythm and rhyme with variation in tone, pitch and indeed voice. It blends humour with humanity, accessible to the layman but with sparks of intelligence shining through.
The drama tells the story of a house view but this is no ordinary house and no ordinary landlord. As the tour progresses the unnamed man has to come to terms with a property that is a long way from how he perceived it with some disconcerting surprises. The question of whether he should move in proves to have much bigger implications that he initially thought. It features the talents of two professional actors David Zezulka and Nick’s younger brother Geoffrey Card (who generously gave their services for free) to bring the words to life.
The CD costs just £5, a bargain for these days of the credit crunch. But be rest assured the profits are not going to Nick’s back pocket for him to blow on booze and loose women. No sir, it will be given to the humanitarian charity “Amnesty International” to fund all the work they do for human rights! So a good CD for a good cause for the cash equivalent of two pints of lager and a packet of crisps!
Release Date – Friday 30th January.
If that sounds like your frshly squeezed cup of mango juice then please get in touch with an address (so a private message) and I'll get my despatch team on the scene.
