Spq-Her is not a "group", they refer to themselves as a "duo/team." These two humble young ladies began their influential music careers as artist(s) on the underrated local Chicago underground hip hop/soul/poetry scene. StephStaa (vocalist/femcee/songwriter) and WiZdom (vocalist/poet/songwriter) are the beautifully talented members
of this dynamic duo. These two soulful divas come with that "Triple Threat" flavor that instantly captures you!!!
Spq-Her joined forces in December 2004. All too often, music groups are manufactured, but Stephstaa and WiZdom exercised sisterhood first. Organically, their friendship transcended into a business relationship. First, they supported each other on individual projects, next they put the pen to the pad, arranged harmonies over tracks and invaded venues on a national level as Spq-Her.
In 2006, Spq-Her dropped their rare/exclusive EP "DEFENDERZ." This eight song EP was a pre-released due to the high demand of internet responses and their faithful fast growing fan base. During the spring, Spq-Her helped organized their first grassroot/independent five city Summer USA tour named: "HipHop Soul INVASION!!!" They recruited fellow artist on the verge and performed at venues in: Las Vegas,NV; Los Angeles,CA; Atlanta,GA and
Richmond,VA and their hometown Chicago,IL. So successful, Spq-Her returned from this tour "sold-out" of merchandise and still to this day they receive "RAVE" reviews!!!
The ladies of Spq-Her have shared the stage with known artists such as: Legendary Dj Kool Herc, KRS ONE, Large Professor, Common, Darien Brockington, Erykah Badu, Kindred the Family Soul, Lalah Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Syleena Johnson, Rashaan Patterson and Lisa Raye to name a few.
Their highly anticipated LP "DEFENDERZ...Article A" dropped in October 2008 and it continues to generate sales, which appeals to all races and ages!
From national publications to appearances on several cable network channels, Spq-Her has independently created a buzz for themselves. Chicago's popular radio station "Soul 106.3 FM" declared Spq-Her as their "Soul Searching BomBay Sapphire 2008 Winners!!!" Spq-Her's professional aggressive approach of getting things done has kept work consistent, which allows them to work even harder towards their dreams.
Spq-Her's purpose is beyond music, far beyond this current existence. Their music and style is simply prolific, it will empower, heal, uplift, inspire and soothe. They believe that it is vital to create songs with substance. Moreover, instill positivity in music for future generations."Spq-Her's gumption combined with a method of creating and delivering music comes from a spirit of passion and endless possibilities. We have a responsibility to everyone that listens. We have to balance the airwaves and remember where we came from so that we can bless others," says WiZdom of Spq-Her.
"Spq-Her is also about shining the light on that strong independent woman, she has a strong voice, she has life changing words to say for the better, she stays in that constant positive motion for humanity. The sound we bring will always evolve and will live timelessly," says StephStaa of Spq-Her.
