We first cut our teeth in the Newcastle Riot Girl / Indie scene at a time with equally obscure peers as Pussy Cat Trash, Kenickie, Delicate Vomit, the Unseen, Missy X, Razorblade Smile et. al. in the 90s and have been doin' our thing ever since. We're friends with just about every independant band in the North East of England. We've played gigs with some amazing bands (Chippewa Falls, Cries and Wild Eyes, Citizens Here and Abroad, the Futureheads, Red Monkey, Maximo Park, Milky Wimpshake, Pale Man Made, Nev Clay, The Black Static of Summer, Construction Yards at Night, The Horse Loom, Moira Stewart, Paper Cut Out, Chronicity, Lake Me, the Four Marys, The Rest, The Big Oaks, and about a hundred others (sorry if we missed you on this list) we're also mates with Kubichek!, This Ain't Vegas, Field Music, Jinglebrass and that spungo band to boot.

Stars of the Lid are easily one of the most important and influential bands or our times. Read a review of any ambient or experimental band these days and you will see their name being dropped, and it’s not hard to hear why. Stars of the Lid are masters of weaving sonic textures gorgeously into beautiful, absorbing, minimalist epic drones, wavering between subtly mournful and gloriously triumphant, offering the perfect soundtrack to lucid daydreaming.
Hear Stars Of The Lid play in Newcastle in a perfect church setting for this very special show. Buy tickets now or purchase from RPM, Beatdown or alt. vinyl!
Only 3 Quid in and late booze and choons until 12am!
See you there!
“These Born Snapped nights have already played host to some fantastic local bands, and it's good to see a decent local music night outside of the centre of Newcastle. If you're a NARC. reader who lives in or around Whitley Bay, you could do a lot worse than attend one of these great gigs appearing on your doorstep” –NARC.
“I ponder at what glorious beginning of summer gig I plan to attend this week... It's a no brainer really, as local promoters Born Snapped have their usual selection of superb North East talent on show at the Station Hotel in Whitley Bay this Friday. Renowned for playing host to some fantastic bands in a cosy venue, just a stones throw from the Metro. Sod iTunes, get out the house and go go go...” – The Chronicle

4 OR 5 MAGICIANS At last a believable British retort to the drawling rambles of Stephen Malkmus - think Hefner's Darren Hayman fronting Guided By Voices - Music Week I really like the juxtaposition of the sort of dismissiveness and confidence rubbing-up against each other... a clattering pop-noise - Steve Lamacq, Radio 1
