Spriggan Mist started as a husband and wife duo Maxine and Baz Cilia. Their lively folk songs and soft ambient recordings are inspired by Pagan Festival and The Sabbats. Maxine creates a melodic blend of recorders and other woodwind instruments against a backdrop of banjo, electric, and acoustic guitars whilst Baz takes care of the low end on bass. After putting out an advert on myspace for musicians to assist in playing live David J Lambert answered the call and joined the band . Dave used to organise the Bracknell South-Hill Park Blues-Jammers concerts and played in the rock/blues group "Achille's Heel", and has also played at various Folk-Clubs and Open-Mics over the years, sometimes with wife Gill on flute, playing a mixture of contemporary/traditional folk-style songs and his own material. He has spent most of the last 5 years studying Folk and Classical Violin.
Gill also had a lot to offer the band's sound and she too joined the good ship Spriggan Mist in their quest to start performing live.
Dave states that if re-incarnated, he would like come back as a combination of the best bits of Neil Young and Maxim Vengerov. He is quick to say he has never played with the Strawbs.!!!! "
Then Andy Wilkin answered the band's call for a drummer through a mutual friend. Andy's unconventional drumkit and style fits in perfectly in the Spriggan Mist Mix. Way back when Bob Dylan was still on his first voice, Andy sang and played in folk clubs with Richard Hannington - then some thirty years, five jobs and four children later they began to play again with neighbours and friends doing fundraisers and parties as 'The Village Hall People'. This led (obviously) to Blues bands 'Beggars Belief'and a "Pint and a Half of Blues', his descent into musical mayhem has continued with 'Disque Bleu' and jazz, not to mention guest spots with the 'Rag and Moan Men', running Third Thursday Blues in Reading and popping up at sessions all over the shop. The folk roots are calling again and always happy to stretch his limited abilities, he says, Spriggan is just the challenge an old geezer needs to keep his head together.
