Sohcahtoa (sew-kuh-toe-uh) formed in January 2006 in a Galion, Ohio basement. Bored with playing covers in garage bands, Eric, Mark, and Tim formed Sohcahtoa as an attempt to dig their way out of the “standard four-chord rock music” rut that they had found themselves in. The resulting music draws from the Ambient, Experimental, and Post-Rock genres, and often flirts with Folk and Elecronica. In 2007, Mark left the band to pursue other interests and Bart Summit joined to group.
About “Sohcahtoa Advocates Headphones”:
To truly be intimate with certain types of music, we like to sit with closed-eyes and headphones to actively listen and pick things out. While we think there are infinite numbers of ways people can listen to music, we made this album with active, headphone-listeners in mind. There are certain aspects of our music that are better heard while listening intently though headphones, such as a motorcycle driving by during ‘Dog and Pony Show’ or Tim’s seat squeaking during ‘Truckstop Breakfast.’

Tickets are on sale now for Matt Munhall Trio and Friends JULY 18th @ newly restored Lincoln Theatre in Columbus, Ohio. When you come to the Lincoln Theatre, you’ll see Munhall at a Steinway grand leading his trio, and an accomplished ensemble of musicians, including a string quartet and horn section. wanted to let you know about two great shows coming up with me and my trio. the first is this friday (5/1) at dicks den located at 2417 north high street. we will be playing 10-2. great band plus cheap drinks, defiantly a do not miss. the second is saturday may 16th at skullys. we will be splitting the night with the floorwalkers and jared mahone. both of these bands are amazing so put it on your calender now. hope to see you out friday and on the 16th.

Hi there sohcahtoa first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that.
