Best Raw Cafe in NYC
Me and Pavel went to SproutCraft today. Presentation, freshest ingredients from local market, balanced taste, not heavy on nuts, ambience of the spiritual center - overall great dinner! Thank you, guys! Coconut water kefir blended with local peaches & raspberries - yum. We ended up buying the whole 1 litre bottle of their signature drink. Eric advised us to drink 2 ounces per day as a live probiotic drink. I can't wait till tomorrow morning!

An oasis in NoHo, albeit hidden and on the 7th floor tucked away in a yoga studio.
It felt like being at someone's apartment, sitting at the edge of their kitchen, watching them prepare your food. And its good food on the raw side.
Really nice service and chef - yes, you can talk with the chef and ask questions and optimize your order.
I went there for lunch, so I can't opine about dinner.
It's small -- I think one or two tables, plus a bunch of lounge seats.

Sprout Craft creates the best raw foods I have ever eaten, bringing this style of cuisine to a new level. Flavors you'd never expect to combine are juxtaposed with mastery to create new experiences that go beyond words. Even their basic comfort foods, such as the sprouted lentil burger, are amazingly better than anything I've ever tried. The prix fixe dinners on weekends are totally worth the money and are an incredible experience for the senses. Each ingredient is carefully chosen and prepared with an attention you could not get even from the best lover in the world. If I weren't so self conscious about it, I'd eat there every night.

"i just went to this place for the first time like a week ago and it was amazing! you feel like you're tingling after eating there. pretty much everything on the menu is raw (with the exception of a stir fry and maybe a handful of other things that are partially cooked), and most of it is sprouted. definitely more vegetable and pulse- centered than starch.
i had the pumpkin-seed pesto, served with two different kinds of raw crackers and a combination of dehydrated (closest to a terra chip, but definitely obviously still a vegetable) and raw veggies. it was really well-flavored- garlicky and substantial. i also split a hearty slice of the raw coconut- mango pie with a friend. that was super-light and flavorful, and the fruit flavors really balanced each other out. most of the menu makes me think that the chefs are culinary geniuses.
the only thing i'd look out for is to not let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. the portions appear smaller than average, but the food is REALLY filling. and awesome. definitely recommended- even if you're not normally a health food person."

"This place is amazing - like a secret happy zen hideaway! The space is cozy and the energy is uplifting and relaxing at the same time. The 2 chefs are adorable and happy to tell you all about their culinary creations and the secrets of sprouting. They have a sprouting class on Tuesday nights at 8:30. I went last night for the first time and it was a blast - learned how to make raw almond milk and sprouted lentil salad. Dishes are prepared with care and ingredients are high quality with an emphasis on local organic and seasonal. There's no place like Sprout Craft!"

SproutCraft is the realization of two dreams: Chef Chris' dream to create a restaurant emphasizing living-foods and local, seasonal produce where he could showcase his uncanny food alchemy, and Eric's dream to create a model for what a sustainable restaurant should look like. Together, they created SproutCraft with nothing but the change in their pockets. Their good intentions allowed them to connect with the Atmananda Yoga studio and turn their vision into a reality that continues to grow. From the first day in the kitchen, SproutCraft has maintained its unyielding dedication to sustainable practices to improve the health of its patrons and the planet.
Meet Chef Chris and Eric .
Chef Chris was raised on a conventional farm in Michigan where he suffered the harsh conditions of modern agriculture and is firmly committed to supporting sustainable, organic farms. After college, he began treating imbalances that made him sick with whole foods and living foods. After studying under traditional chefs, he moved to New York City, where he discovered the world of raw, vegan cuisine. Since then, he has spent countless hours in the kitchen perfecting his recipes and techniques to maximize the flavor and nutrition of our region's fresh, local harvests.
Eric is dedicated to his vision for a sustainable human presence on our planet. Working under traditional chefs since he was 15 years old, he began to realize the imbalances of his diet after taking a nutrition course in college. What he thought was a healthy diet had a dark side, linked to disease and environmental degradation. Since his awakening, he has been dedicated to teaching and creating healthy alternatives.
