The Prague-based band SPS (Snizena pracovni schopnost / Reduced Capacity for Work) represents a successful generation of Czech punk of the end of the 1980s. The band's beginnings go back to 1984 to a non-punk band MEGAWATT, in which Zdenek Kaplan and Vilda Reiner met. The rehearsal room in Kunratice becomes a pool for the future SPS band members in 1987 the Defekt were forming up there in which Karel Zelenka and Kuba were founding members. In the beginning of 1988 Sebek and Ruzicka joined the Defekt they all were going to FPB' and anov' gigs to the effect that they came to like punk more than hard rock, which was what they played up until then. During the course of 1988 the Defekt got transformed into SPS and the band members remained Ruzicka, Sebek and Zelenka.
