The Smashing Pumpkins at Santa Cruz Civic Just Announced Body: THE SMASHING PUMPKINS AT SANTA CRUZ CIVIC AUDITORIUM FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY
As they get ready to release ZEITGEIST--their sixth album and first of new material since 2000--THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have confirmed an additional Northern California show at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium on Friday, July 20th. Tickets for Santa Cruz Civic will go on sale this Sunday, July 1st at 10am at ticketmaster.com.
The Santa Cruz show will come in the middle of their eleven-night residency at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco (July 15, 16, 18, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30 and 31 and August 1.) The Fillmore shows sold out in a matter of minutes. The band is currently in the middle of an nine-night stand at the Orange Peel Social Club, in Asheville, North Carolina.
For these very special and intimate shows, the band will vary set lists from night to night. They'll perform songs from Zeitgeist and Pumpkins classics plus retool songs that didn't make it onto Zeitgeist and even offer tunes written the day of the show. The shows will give fans a unique opportunity to see the Pumpkins inside the process of creation and operating in the spur of the moment. The band will be taking chances in the hope of taking fans, and their music, to new places.

Hey! Thanks for adding SB :) Here's a good story. I'm originally from the Bay Area and I go to UCSB, so I'm driving back to SB for the winter quarter, and I zone out at the wheel and mistakenly start driving on 17 towards SC...maybe in the near future it won't be a mistake :D

(another one of those messages that I repost here):
A few days ago I suggested the possibility we set up a MySpace group to be used as a discussion forum.
What I've just done is created a smaller, Portland-only group. We'll use it for discussion among members of the group . . . But its bigger function is to serve as somewhat of a trial for a larger, group-wide discussion forum.
After it goes awhile I'll report off to y'all how it goes, whether it invites a chorus of crickets or whether it lubes up our togetherness like K-Y.
We've only got *ahrm* twenty-two Portland/surrounding area residents for the page, so I'll be sure to take that into consideration when reporting the virtue of said venture ;)
I posted this as a bulletin but I'll post it here as well:
WHAT do you guys think of the possibility of starting a MySpace GROUP, with our City/Country logins as members, so we could get a threaded message board going? It would be easier to collaborate ideas this way rather than replying to bulletins.
This way ideas, comments, and replies could be seen by EVERYONE, organized into topics. Yeah?
If there's already such a thing going and I'm not aware of it, tell me! But I think this could really smooth the dynamics of our communication. Sure we've got competitions for contests but we're really all in this together.
Welcome Santa Cruz - Although I live in San Francisco, when I lived in Santa Cruz I met the most extreme pumpkinhead/friend, Mat Seal-Mayer-- We had some great times rocking out to the pumpkins on top of the knoll and by the beach!!!
