The Great Depression Celebration is one of the greatest things, musically, to be created this decade. I fucking love it to death. Parts one and two fuse together in perfect musical union.

Review "The Devil's Bargain": Sputnik Monroe takes no time getting on with it with their new single. From the first second I was almost tricked into thinking this would be another one of their ambient chill-out creepy songs. There's a faint splash and then WHAM! The whole band is fu**ing your ears with every instrument they have in one instant. This is definitely Sputnik Monroe at their best. Satanic Boogie I would call the general sound of this track. It's got a real creepy vibe, but it's so damn catchy you wouldn't find yourself looking over your shoulder for a moment. The drum track is done quite well and executed in a manner of experimental ska with quick fills that make the surrounding noise a lot more interesting. Of course, the singing is bitchin', always reminding me of a more energetic Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and you know that's a compliment :D. The song, for me at least, couldn't have been much better without the great selection of FX on the guitar. It's like a HELL ORGAN but I really had to wonder if it was a synthesizer for a short second. Sweet, noodly, and not jam sessiony. Sounds enough to me like the best damn Sputnik Monroe song. You've really outdone yourselves!
I am still waiting for you guys to come back to Portland. Give me advance warning to book you the proper venues, it will be a good time, I promise! And pole position may or may not be had as well...
