Ex Mouse Eat Mouse founder Johnny White formed Spy Movie in 2008. Having completed touring and promoting Mouse Eat Mouse’s critically acclaimed debut album Mair Licht, he decided to leave and return to his indie pop roots.
Kat King and David Mitchell, who’ve played with various bands in Glasgow, joined and began writing furiously.
Described as “indie-pop brilliance…” by ThereGoesTheFear.com, our debut EP is three bittersweet slices of jangling Glasgow indie folk recalling bands such as Camera Obscura, Blondie and The Smiths.
Kat (pictured) provides plangent vocals, while David layers a soft sea of shimmering acoustic and electric guitars beneath. Johnny plays bass and sings harmonies. Drums on this release were provided by Toronto-based audio engineer Michael. However, we've just recruited Paul on drums.
We' re playing gigs in Glasgow and throughout Scotland in 2009 and 2010. Our second release will be recorded in early 2010 and released in March 2010.
We write and play what we like to think is pop music with a bit of brains and heart.
