    http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=148413728541101 Banda formada en Septiembre de 1987, fundada por Christian "CHRIS" Castro y Rodrigo "PERA" Cuadra ( quien ya se estaba estableciendo firmemente con su banda DORSO). Castro, le sugirió a Cuadra, hacer algo mas brutal en contenido sonoro, en contrapartida a las bandas punk hardcore del momento ( CAOS, F.U.C.K), incluso ya con el nombre de la banda en mente ( SQUAD), Castro recluta a su hermano Marcelo " Peep" Castro, conformando un trio, en el que Chris seria vocalista, Peep en bajo Y Pera ( DORSO, INSECTIVORA, MANIFESTO,ABISMAL) en bateria. Se suceden los obligatorios ensayos, principalmente en casa del guitarrista Marco Cusatto ( RUST, WARPATH, CAPITAL, THE FALLACY), donde las ideas musicales vuelan , naciendo temas tan importantes como MUERTE A LOS HIPPIES ( del odio de Chris hacia el movimiento hippie, jactandose de jamas haber visto WOODSTOCK, o haber probado marihuana. Un manifesto que encerraba todo el concepto de Squad, POR LO MENOS PARA CHRIS), mezclados con estilos copiados del primer l.p de D.R.I , tendencia del que eran fanaticos Cuadra y Chris( ironicamente 15 años después Squad telonearia a D.R.I , EN UN RECITAL TOTALMENTE SOLD-OUT!), y que quedo plasmada en el rehearsal NOISY NOISE (actualmente, inubicable). Por ordenes de Chris entra Daniel "Flack" Saez, en el rol de vocalista, mientras siguen los ensayos, y lecciones basicas de guitarra para Chris, por Marco Cussato. Por fin en Enero de 1988, SQUAD debuta en el Gimnasio Manuel Plaza, teloneando a PENTAGRAM, logrando, lo que después serian años de conciertos para Squad, plagados de mosh, Empiezan los cambios de integrantes(,incluso el retiro de Chris de la banda por mas de 5 años) hasta que en Diciembre de 1988, se graba el cassette GALLINAZEOUS DEATH, el que contenia en sucintas canciones, todo el salvaje repertorio de riffs, breaks demoledores, y en general una verdadera catarsis de todo lo vivido en tan poco tiempo. De la mano de Rodrigo "Cuadra" en bajo, Daniel " Flack" Saez en voces, Marcelo Castro y Alvaro Cuadra( SQUAD, DORSO, CRIA SALVAJE, QUEBRANTAHUESOS) en guitarras Y Alex Sante( WARPATH) EN BATERIAS. SQUAD se convierte instantaneamente en una de las bandas mas importantes de la escena metalera de finales de los '80, gracias a himnos como CUMA AGRESSION, GENOCIDE DAWN y el inefable MUERTE A LOS HIPPIES. Pero toda esta popularidad, sin embargo se contrapone al declive de la banda , luego de la desercion de Chris , y mas tarde de Rodrigo Pera Cuadra en 1989, para dedicarse 100% a DORSO, SQUAD no logra permanecer en el tiempo. Tal vez, incida la segunda generacion de bandas que empezaron a aparecer de corte DEATH METAL, y la lenta desaparición del estilo Thrash Metal a nivel mundial. Sin los miembros fundadores e ideologos de la banda. Squad desaparece, hasta que en 1995, Chris Retoma las riendas del proyecto, con nuevos musicos,nuevas canciones( 3 demos , jamas editados) logrando mantener , hasta estos dias la presencia de SQUAD, aun como un ente vital en el circuito de recitales y conciertos.Por estos dias, la union de Chris y el legado del respetado guitarrista Andres "Conejo"Ortega , de los miticos "S.N.F", se conjugan para grabar el disco definitivo de SQUAD. SQUAD was formed in September 1987 by Christian "Chris" Castro and Rodrigo "Pera" Cuadra (the latter already making inroads into the local music scene with his band DORSO). Castro suggested experimenting with a more sonically brutal approach, compared to the Hardcore Punk bands of that time (CAOS, F.U.C.K.), to create a project for which he already had a name, SQUAD. The original 3-piece line-up also included Chris' brother, Marcelo "Peep" Castro, on bass, with Chris handling vocals, and the skin-bashing courtesy of Pera. After the first rehearsals, mainly at fellow musician Marco Cusatto's (RUST, WARPATH, CAPITAL, THE FALLACY) home studio, musical ideas started to fly, leading to the creation of very important songs such as MUERTE A LOS HIPPIES (about their hatred toward the hippie movement; in fact Chris claims never to have seen Woodstock or smoked weed), a manifesto encompassing the whole SQUAD concept, with a strong influence from the first D.R.I. album (ironically, 15 years later, SQUAD played as supporting act for D.R.I. in Santiago, a totally sold-out gig!!!). The first fruit of this collaboration, which showcases all the above mentioned ingredients, was a Rehearsal tape called NOISY NOISE (currently not available anywhere). A little bit later, Daniel "Flack" Sáez took over the vocal duties, while Chris started taking guitar lessons with Marco Cusatto. In January 1988, SQUAD finally played their first proper show at the infamous Gimnasio Manuel Plaza supporting local cult legends PENTAGRAM. This marked the beginning of many mosher-infested shows for the band. During the same year the band had to face several line-up changes (even Chris had to quit for more than 5 years) until in December they recorded the GALLINAZEOUS DEATH tape, with songs that comprised a savage array of riffs and devastating breaks, a true catharsis capturing everything the boys had to live over such a short period of time. With Cuadra on bass, Sáez on vocals, Marcelo Castro and Álvaro Cuadra (SQUAD, DORSO, CRÍA SALVAJE) on guitars and Alex Santé (WARPATH) on drums, SQUAD immediately became a staple in the metal scene of the late 80's, thanks to anthems like CUMA AGGRESSION, GENOCIDE DAWN and, of course, MUERTE A LOS HIPPIES. However, all this popularity got overshadowed after Chris left. A little later, Rodrigo Cuadra also left the ranks of SQUAD to focus completely on DORSO. Unfortunately, SQUAD was not able to persevere The causes for this may be the emergence of the second wave of Death Metal bands in the local scene and the slow extinction of Thrash Metal globally. Withouth its original members and ideologists, SQUAD was put to rest until, in 1995, Chris resurrected the project, along with new members, new songs (3 unreleased demos), dozens of shows, and a supporting slot for BELLADONNA in 2008. SQUAD remains a strong force, a vital entity in the local gig circuit, whose shows are packed with fans, helped by the recent revival of Thrash/Crossover.
