About me:

Layout Created @ FreeCodeSource.com

Squid Works is the offspring of ACME Comics and Fandom House that operated in the 1980s small press scene helmed by such people as Dennis Pimple and T. Motley. Squid Works formed in 1995 as a local, comics cooperative. The Squid Works’ comics cooperative comprises of independent cartoonists, artists, and writers exclusive to Colorado. While the styles and types of offerings are varied at Squid Works, there is a unifying level of passion and originality provided by its members. Squid Works is also actively involved in local comic events such as the 24 Hour Comics Challenge, Nan Desu Kan, Denver Zine Festival, and often hosts comic jams. You can visit our online forums that provide information about comic related job opportunities as well as information about upcoming local events.

Contact Us

Interested in joining? Squid Works assists its members to succeed in their respective artistic ambitions by providing small-press and self-published creators distribution and promotion to independent-friendly stores. Squid Works also functions as an online hub that showcases members’ work. To keep the word local meaningful, however, Squid Works does limit its membership to people in Colorado. Our physical meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month at the Enchanted Grounds located at 8800 S. Colorado Blvd., Highlands Ranch, 80126. You can find directions to it at http://www.enchantedgrounds.com/directions.html. The meetings are free and open to anyone. You do not have to be member to attend the meetings, nor is there pressure for you to join, only to share your work. There is a small annual fee if you wish become a catalog member of Squid Works which includes your placement in our online catalog that is regularly promoted to around 100 retailers worldwide. For more information about Squid Works feel free to contact us:

Hi Squid Works,

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I like what I've read about you, and think the 24-hour comic day is a great event for spontaneous creation. I saw some collections published by About Comics from those events, I think. All the best and have a good week.

Be well,

Please come dance your pants off and support the wonderful Free Boutique, Denver's only fashion-forward free store! This is the last dance party before Denver gets invaded by the DNC, let's make it count! We have a perfect lineup of amahzing dj's for your dancing enjoyment as well as a sunset over the ocean photo booth. There will be a dance off as well, winner receives a trophy, lets just hope there isn't an interpretive dance fight. Get $2 off if you dress to the theme! Think Miami Vice, florals (no no no hawaiian shirts), sunglasses, adult contemporary, ultra slick or your dapper dan designer jumpsuit.

Fri Aug 22, 10pm.
At the Glob, 3551 Brighton Blvd.

Three workshops for you to choose from!

PAPER VALENTINES: Decorate preschool style with markers, stickers, glitter, doilies and other crap. A small amount of supplies will be provided-- if you have some special materials in mind, bring 'em!
T-SHIRTS: Make a Valentine's tee with fabric paint and stencils! A small amount of plain white tees will be provided, along with a couple of pre-made Valentine stencils for you to play with. Again, if you have cool supplies or shirts of your own, bring!!
LOVE SHRINES: Make a 3-D scrapbook for your beloved! Or your mom. A few boxes will be provided for you to decorate and fill with your own found objects and memoribilia. Works great with Altoids tins, too, so if you got 'em.....yeah.

And don't forget- if you can afford to, bring to share!
