Chattanooga's Live Music Scene: SRO by Bob Payne WWW. MYSPACE. COM/DAVRIK posted November 13, 2008
Bob Payne Friday night found me at Buds on Brainerd Road for a chance to listen to SRO – Standing Room Only Band. This talented bunch of musicians have decades of experience in the music business, but have been playing mainly at corporate and private party events of late. Now, they are out on the club scene, and I am betting they will do well.
SRO covers many old favorites like Brick House, Soul Man, and Chain Of Fools, but they do mix in some pretty cool new covers, such as the Maroon 5 hit, This Love, and even some Sheryl Crow songs.
Having a female singer gives them access to a wider range of songs that many bands will skip. And with the incredible range of the band’s other lead vocalist Landis Batts, the band can do some of the Motown great songs with perfection.
One sign that the crowd is in to the band is whether or not they get up and dance. Buds was rocking Friday night, and the dance floor area was busy the entire time I was there. Look for SRO to play in the area in the near future.
