       sso press's Blurbs
    About me:
SSO Press (pronounced "so") is now a semi-non-existant non-profit publishing company which operates out of Olympia, Wa. We have been known to publish book-like things that sometimes fit the description of chapbooks and zines, comics, broadsides, and cd's. We enjoy throwing events that mix types of creative expression and defy expectations (and cross our fingers that it works out).
We currently exist mainly to use the last remaining dollars of our little paper empire to publish a few truely great zines/books/chapbooks and distribute the SSO/friends of SSO catalog. Don't expect us to respond to e-mails in a timely manner or accept submissions. We will enthusiastically respond to yr letters, postcards, orders, donations, etc...PO Box 2645 Olympia, Wa. 98507.

The long-awaited Apple Shadows by Cole Cunningham was released in April, 2008 and is available by donation through the PO Box. In months to come, expect covertly released books from Ariel Birks, Monty Cantsin, and other fine folks keeping the SSO name alive.

Some of our books can be found in places such as Orca Books, Last Word Books and other fine places in Seattle, Portland, and the bay area. For more on our paper empire, check out www.ssopress.com, a sorely behind the times source that does its job despite the forward motion of the world around it.

    The tick from the clock
And the talk from the click
    means nothing to blocks
and the world to the sick.
    It's the passage of past
    a road to away
It' the out with the old
    and in of new days.
    Chronographers remind
of the time that was spent
    But yield no reciepts
    and no dollars or sense.
    Don't stare at a watch
    Or watch what you stare
    as useless as scotch
    or waste
    if you dare.

the heavens have made their bed
a white sheet covers the spring matress
    many people curse it
they don't want to be tucked in anymore
    i just smile
    familiarity can be so mundane
    this spark of snowfall
    leaves me without word
    but warm of feeling

I read your stuff Brian. Justy pulled out a few copies of SSO press she had kept. This was a couple of years ago. I couldn't stop examining them, for traces of you. I still have a lot of your poetry from highschool.

Once upon a time in the age of now there lived a wealthy young woman named Marleen. She was a bright, attractive, highly educated sort who was at the crossroads of her life. It seemed that abducting, torturing, and killing men didn''t give her the pleasure that it once did.

Meanwhile there was a bright young man of God named Marcus who was born with tremendous power. He wants to do God''s will but his contempt for humanity has sunk to new depths of misanthropy. He too was at a crossroads.

It was at this point in the tiny town of Thompson, Georgia that something miraculous happened for these two special individuals.

    They fell in love.

Check out the snippets in my blogs.
