OUR CURRENT RESCUE PROJECT

Alabama Hoarding situation; these dogs were confiscated from a private home. Over 145 dogs were taken from this home- two people also lived in this house.

.. Our Rescue Efforts at a PUPPY MILL AUCTION



WHO WE ARE -

Southern Shih Tzu & Toy Breed Rescue(SSTR) is a 501(c)3 NON PROFIT charity. We are not a shelter; but an ALL volunteer, small rescue organization, dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of Shih Tzu & Toy Breeds.

In most shelters, if a dog is sick (heartworms, eye injury) or shows any sign of aggression (even FEAR) the shelter can NOT adopt the dog out... it will DIE. Rescue steps in and takes these babies. We give them the medical treatment they need and time to adjust before we rehome them..... Saving one LIFE at a time.

Every year, for a variety of reasons Toy Breeds in this country find themselves in need of new homes. Sometimes they are lost, abandoned or dumped at shelters. Some are take out of abusive and neglect situations. And, sometimes they are rescued from commercial breeding facilities, commonly referred to as "puppy mills".

Before finding new homes, ALL babies are placed in foster care for evaluation and vet-work, which includes: spay/neuter, vaccinations and treatment of all other medical issues, based on vet recommendation (heartworm treatment, dental work, hip surgery, eye surgery, liver shunt surgery, etc...)

THESE BABIES are at RAINBOW BRIDGE- we lost these babies to medical conditions, basically because we got to them too late and they were so neglected at their previous homes (not treated for their condition)
