Songwriter Steve Sutherlin, AKA: Alaska Steve, AKA: Mr. E.S.
Songwriter Steve Sutherlin grew up in Alaska. Alaska is the 49th state of the United States of America, home to most of the nation’s bald eagles, and the source of delicious wild Alaska salmon.
Sutherlin likes to hang out and write music and play music with friends in Alaska, Nashville, Los Angeles, New Zealand and Houston.
Sutherlin’s first Album, "Instinct" was released in 1993. Instinct was recorded live to tape --on 24 track analog -- at the Fireside Studio in Nashville.
Sutherlin appears on vocals and guitars with Us, the Band. Us released the Album, “Made in Alaska” in 2004. He plays djimbe hand drums with a Jazz quartet, and with various pop, blues and hick-hop artists. Often, Sutherlin is on stage as a solo act. "As a solo, it's easier to get everybody to the gig."
At times Sutherlin appears live with other players or bands, at those times the act is listed as Steve Sutherlin with (band name) or Steve Sutherlin and Friends.
Sutherlin was a founding member of the Anchorage-based rock band, Brade. In recent years Sutherlin has played most festivals and venues in Alaska as a solo artist. He was also a part of A.C. Gold, and Spoonerism.
Sutherlin has a substantial catalog of rock, blues, country, and roots/Americana music, written primarily over the last two decades.
Lately Sutherlin has been composing instrumentals for web and film projects. Sutherlin is a filmmaker, and associate producer of Cine Golden Eagle winning documentaries including “Eating With Your Eyes.” Sutherlin is a full-time professional writer with credits and interests in newspapers, magazines, books, web sites and music.
Sutherlin writes songs in many genres and locations, alone and in co-write mode. "When I write a song, my life gets better." He is finishing -- at a measured pace -- a fourth EP, live to analog at Bayou Recording in Nashville. Happy and Blue Horizon are part of that effort and likely to be included in the collection.
Leaving you a little love on your page my good friend and wishing you every happiness. May your days be blessed with good health and happiness...Ralphy
