Stacey began singing at an early age in church and school growing up in rural Mississippi, and completed a Bachelor of Arts as a voice major at Mississippi University for Women. There she focused on honing her singing skills as a mezzo soprano studying classical/choral, Broadway, and pop. Highlights during this time include winning the Irene Ryan Award in music theater regional competition, and singing at Carnegie Hall. Encouraged by her college music instructors that her voice was a natural fit for jazz music, she immersed herself in the genre and completed her senior recital and undergraduate thesis on the topic. After graduation she moved to Jackson, where she performed with local bands before relocating to Los Angeles.
From working at a music marketing firm where she wrote music-related business proposals, she eventually landed a job on more of the creative side, working full-time for a well-known television composer. Sometimes music supervisor, sometimes musician contractor, sometimes vocalist depending on the need... Stacey's first passion is vocal performance. She specializes in film and TV vocal underscore, pre-records, singing to picture, and vocal arranging. She commands strong music reading skills and ear training, and has been called to sing in the style of Eva Cassidy or Sheryl Crow, and has developed a niche singing world vocal style underscore. She can currently be heard singing this style on A&E's new original drama series "The Beast" starring Patrick Swayze. She has toured with Billy Griffin of The Miracles as a background singer and has performed locally with Brian Kinler and his jazz combo, Brett Boyett and his pop/rock band doing background vocals and percussion, and has worked with several rising film and TV composers.
