The Godfather has you ever needed to
know about life! If you can learn these five things, you are ready for the real
world. Last I checked, you can only learn these things from the Godfather Movies. There is no college course called the Real World 101 taught by Francis Ford Copploa.
- Never takes sides against the family. United we stand; divided we fall:
"Fredo, you're my older brother, and I love
you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever."
Michael to Fredo
- Never let anyone outside of the family know what
you are thinking. It's bad for business and highlights your weaknesses....and everyone has at least one weakness:
"Never tell anybody outside the family what
you're thinking again." Don
Corleone to Sonny
- Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. It's the only way to know what they are up to:
"My father taught me many things
... keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." Michael to
Pentangeli
·
Don't hate anyone. My grandmother always used to say that hate is like acid. It does more damage to the vessel it is stored in than the object is it poured on:
"Never hate your enemies -- it
effects your judgement." Michael to Vincent
·
Never mix business with personal. They are two different
facets of life:
"Whatya gonna do? Nice college boy, eh? Don't
wanna get mixed up in the family business? Now you wanna gun down a police
captain because he slapped you in the face a little bit, huh? Whataya think this
is, the Army, where you shoot 'em a mile away? You gotta get up close like
this... badaBING! you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit.
C'mere... you're taking this very personal."
Sonny to Michael
