Stacy Ricker, a recent transplant from Halifax, is known to many as the lead
singer of the Moncton-based neo-folk-rock group Sol.Sol released their first
indie EP, Small Vacations,in 1996. That same year, they also performed a
rendition of "Blue Tattoo" on A Tribute to Hard Core Logo (Bruce MacDonald
film)with other artists such as Super Friends, Pursuit of Happiness, Kinnie
Starr .
In 1997, they released their full length debut,Lucinda as well as the
circulation of their video Lucinda on Much Music and Music Plus. The band
toured Canada several times sharing the stage with Weeping Tile, Holly
McNarland ,The Head Stones, Sarah Slean, Kevin Fox, Rheostatics, Great Big
Sea, Big Sugar, Damhnait Doyle and many festivals such as Great Big Picnic,
North by North East,Canada Music Week and had singles on campus and
community radio.They won an East Coast Music Award for Best Aleternative Artist in 1999. Following a rare live recording in 2000 "SOL Live", the band
respectfully parted ways to pursue self interests.
Stacy provided additional vocals for the 2003 self-titled album by Halifax's
Wintersleep. As well various artists from the east coast such as Zwerg on his
1998 album "To Myopic Mutts" ,Acadian singer /songwriter Mathieu D'Astous
2002 album "Ada"as well as a compilation on Halifax's Voices for V-Day
sharing amongst artists' such as Rose Cousins, Tara MacLean, Amy
Campbell, Damhnait Doyle, Laura Smith and Amelia Curran.
In 2003, Stacy moved to Toronto to begin studies in Massage Therapy and
had to put music on the back burner choosing to fall off the grid for a few
years.
In the spring of 2006, Stacy joined musicians Jennifer Gillmor(Roach
Motel,Kelly & the Kelly Girls,The Amer Diab Band), Cheryl Reid( Ember
Swift,Garnet Rogers)& Steve Sauve of Brazen Crush. They went on to record
an EP "tease" and played a variety of shows with Drowning Girl, Blue Venus
and Layah Jane.Brazen Crush performed their last show at Pride 2007, which
shared a stage roster of Hunter Valentine, Kinnie Starr & Carol Pope.
Stacy Ricker lives and works in Toronto as a Registered Massage Therapist
and is happy to be back on the grid singing, song writing, being a rock star,
studying the vastness of the electric guitar and
remains open to new projects and touring in the near future.
