Ok. About me. My name is Josh, or JLo, or Zipp - depending on which circle you roll with. I love performing, mostly dancing and I think it's what I want to do FOREVER! In 2007 I founded DRILL Performance Company - more info below!
I'm from Launceston but now live in Melbourne where I study dance full time at VCA. It's amazing and I have met so many awesome people - even though sometimes it's bloody frustrating and I just want to GO HOME!
I love all my friends, besties include Roch, Fran, Hayley, Dany, Cindy, Chelsea, Han, Maddy, Tash, Lana, everyone in VCA firt year and of course my lovely boyfriend Ben!
Loves: Froot Loops, all things Disney, hot days, being a kid, video games, walking. Hates: Small annoying children, being cold, disasters, beer, and warm milk.
DRILL Performance Company works with many different young people within its projects, creating new contemporary works and providing more opportunities for people to express themselves through performance, while gaining experience. Our artists which include dancers, singers, actors, musicians, and designers as well as behind the scenes crew are always changing and growing, and we are always welcoming new people on board.
You can never know what to expect from DRILL - we want to explore different artforms and work with a variety of artists such as those mentioned above. While primarily a contemporary dance company for youth, DRILL Performance Company aims to work on a many different projects, none of them limited to a certain style or format. Bummer! What are you going to do? can you still dance? yeah well we're down to 12 peeps now because of injury and deferring and whatnot. yeah we've got the flu plus this wierd stomach bug going round which doesn't make you feel sick but you vomit every 5 minutes....watching people run out between exercises is funny!
and strapping tape is in high demand. as are anti inflammatory's and physios!
ahh why do we do it to ourselves.
i know one person who isn't injured though...except i wouldn't want to be him for the world. ha!
ahaha i wish i could have seen that!! yeah i'm not gunna lie to ya, last friday it hurt to breathe i was so sore- damn you comfortable couch, good books, nice warm fire and overfeeding mother! we started rehearsals yesterday and my brain went into meltdown because it hasn't had to work in a while. ha i'll keep you posted anyway if anything more amusing comes up. oh the contempt i feel towards him!
omg so you know who has actually taken over our ballet classes- every lesson starts with " ok and before we start the class **** would like to share something with us from his experiences during the holidays"
and then our little friend goes- "yes as you all know in the holidays i did COMPANY CLASS and if you'd like a tighter fifth i recommend pulling into the position from a lunge. or perhaps you could try standing parallel and then moving your heels into a turned out position" (and this is the best part!) "perhaps you'd all like to experience it for yourselves now"

The fabulous DRILL Performance Company is conducting an amazing dance workshop opportunity not to be missed.
These workshops aim to teach and explore the basic skills of dance improvisation and emphasise the use of improvisation as a useful tool in dancing and choreography. Aimed at students aged fourteen and over, the workshops will expand each participant’s choreographic repertoire and confidence, regardless of previous dance experience and training.
Classes will include warm ups, improvised solo, duo and group exercises with a focus on dancing without inhibition and creating exciting and fun new movement. This will then culminate in a showing of the work.
