SC20 Brain Children 's/t' 12" / CD The most exciting and anticipated disco record in Australia comes from Mikey Young and Max Kohane, a couple of seasoned Melbourne punk veterans who have spent years touring and releasing records in the DIY Punk / Garage / Hardcore circuit. When the two realised they shared a passion for classic disco and vintage hip-hop, it was only a matter of time before they were making music together - and the result is electrifying!

SC17 Slug Guts 'Down On The Meat' CD
From the heat oppressed confines of Brisbane, creating damaged arsehole music that takes cues from Lubricated Goat, Birthday Party and Venom P. Slug Guts LP "Down on the Meant" will be out soon on Stained Circles records. In one year of existence: Finished LP, Falco arrested twice, played with Flipper, went on tour twice, got fucked with once. Never again.

SC19/FC5 Extortion 's/t' 7" REPRESS
SC15X/FC3 Extortion 's/t' 12" - SOLD OUT
The psychotic s/t 7” from Perth’s Extortion lit a fire under the Australian hardcore scene. Seeming to come from nowhere, like every record from Perth does. It went out of press very quickly. When they were to tour the US, we and James (Fifth Column) wanted to repress it on 12” with a long dirge B side that we basically requested they write and record. The 12” sold out within a couple weeks of getting back from tour, and we finally managed to get the 7” repressed again…

SC07 Pink Reason 'Cleaning The Mirror' CD (licensed from Siltbreeze)
This is haunting, heavy music that nods to bad trips and hard times. Kevin writes and home records all of the Pink Reason music; he has lived in remote Midwestern towns and even more remote Siberian villages, and his unsettling music speaks of isolation and desolation. The Pink Reason sound contains elements of the English post-punk / goth bands like Bauhaus or Joy Division at their most minimal, yet also sounds similar to acoustic psychedelic rock like that of Syd Barrett or Nick Drake in their more morose and introspective incarnations. In all, it’s some of the most horrific and beautiful music we’ve heard in a long time.

SC10 Eddy Current Suppression Ring 'Demons Demands' 7" REPRESS
This is the domestic release of the 'Demons Demands' single... another two tunes from our favourite Australian punk band.

SC01 Jay Reatard "Blood Visions" CD (licensed from In The Red)
After seeing Jay in the US in early 2007 and nearly being decapitated by his flying V and flattened by a falling speaker stack, we were blown away by his debut solo LP... totally flat-out Adverts meets Rikk Agnew punk tunes. We licensed this for Australia so more people here could be decapitated by his flying V or flattened by falling speaker stacks.

SC16/IDGETCHILD006 Deaf Wish 'Deaf News' 7"
Max released the first Deaf Wish 7” in a pressing of 200, a selection of songs from their first album that was released as a CD sprayed green. The album reminded us of the best of ‘You’re Living All Over Me’ era Dinosaur Jr and ‘Daydream Nation’ era Sonic Youth with the requisite Australian pub punk sound – X, Feedtime, etc. We got together with Max at his favourite café and schemed about Deaf Wish, and this 7” came out of that. It’s got three killer tunes that extend from Butthole Surfers styled drug fucked sludge to shoegazey, UK indie rock.

SC02 Insurgents "Demos" Cassette
Brisbane’s Insurgents played their first show with Straightjacket Nation when we were on tour, and it was one of the best new bands I’d seen in a long time. Really uptight teen punk, with a handful of Circle Jerks and Bad Brains covers. Their singer Wes gave me the demo that night, and their second demo came out a few months later. They were in a very limited pressing so as soon as we started Stained Circles I asked to get both demos so we could keep them in press on cassette, one of our favourite formats for this kind of squall. This is hardcore punk – Koro is the best reference point. Fast, dynamic, uptight.

SC12 Jay Reatard ‘Singles 2006-2007’ CD (licensed from In The Red)
After recording his debut solo LP, Reatard released a slew of singles and EPs on labels across the globe; all were pressed in limited quantities and now fetch serious coin on eBay. Singles 06-07 is the collection of all his out-of-print material all re-mastered by Jay himself with a DVD featuring Jay Reatard live at four different shows capturing his manic, energetic live presence. Finally it’s possible to hear these gems in one straight shot, sounding better than ever, without flipping over a pile of seven inch platters. Blood Demos 7” we released closes of the disc – the last release before he hit the big time!

SC08 Clockcleaner 'Skinheaded Lady b/w Hate City' 7"
One sleazy bar room romantic pop hit and one X cover.

SC09 Clockcleaner 'Babylon Rules' CD (licensed from Load)
While they endure these constant references to the dirgey 80’s American post-punk landscape, Clockcleaner have also drawn numerous comparisons to the damaged history of Australian noise-rock groups and it’s suitable that Babylon Rules saw release here for their HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL Australian tour.

SC04 The Dirtbombs "Need You Tonight b/w Devil Inside" 7"
We wanted to release a Dirtbombs single for their tour – we were turned onto them from a Flipper cover on an old Corduroy single that (weirdly enough) Mikey Young recorded, and ‘Ultraglide...’ was playing on every PA between bands in Melbourne for years. So, when they sent us these INXS songs, we were surprised. Later on in an interview they expressed doubts that we’d dig the tunes and try to back out… but we GREW UP listening to INXS. No problems! They tried to break us, but they failed. Nice try though!

SC15 The Stabs 'Split Lips' 7"
The A side is from their upcoming new LP, the B side is exclusive. Channeling the best of the Scientists and Lubricated Goat into one thick swampy mess.

SC05 Pathetic Human TAPE - SOLD OUT
Two tunes from the best new Melbourne hardcore band, channeling the spirit of Siege's 'Grim Reaper' into psych / outsider noise influenced power violence. Bleak.
