About me:
The Gang Show has a long history and was started in 1932 by Ralph Reader. From then until the 1960's Gang Shows starred only male performers from the Scout movement but since then members of the Girl Guides have been welcomed into the shows.
During the war years Ralph Reader continued to direct and produce Gang Shows with ex-scouts who had been drafted in the RAF. Many of the people that took part in these shows went on to become famous entertainers such as; Peter Sellers, Dick Emery, Tony Hancock & Norie Paramor!
Nowadays Gang Shows include performers from both the Scouts and Guides and are a dazzling mix of, large items combining music and dance, as well as smaller front of curtain items that could make you laugh, cry, scream or maybe just leave you speechless!
Since its humble beginnings the St Albans Gang Show has grown and improved to become known as one of the best in the country. It was even invited to entertain Scout Chiefs from around the world at BP House during a special weekend to launch the 2007 Scout Jamboree. St Albans Gang Show is now preparing for its 28th Show in February next year and will certainly, once again, be a sight to behold (if you are lucky enough to get tickets!).
