STAMPKASE was formed in February 2003 by Ruben Bento [vocals], André Viveiros [vocals], Bruno Moniz [guitars] and Nuno Costa [drums]. Yet without a bassist, the band started to play and compose its first songs. About two months later the band found Pedro Valério for the lefting spot, and so the band was completed. In that summer, the band played its first shows, one of them as opening act for a very popular band out here called Tolerance 0 . So the next winter we kept closed in rehearsals to write some more songs and it ended up quickly with a new 16 tracks line up. In the next summer, the story about concerts seemed to repeat as it continues to be very hard for a metal band to get some places to play here. Looking forward this, the band decided the best thing to do was getting some way to record a few songs and try to present them to record labels all over the world so and try to get a deal. So we grab an old friend, guitar player as well, and went to their home studio to record six of our songs the best way we could. So the final product is what features on our first demo, Self Afflicted. In spite of some technical errors, or best saying, things that could have been done better if we had more time and technology to do it (André Tavares, our producer, had to go away soon in the summers fall because of personal matters, so we had very limited time to do it) we intended that the final result is positive enough to stand out for a good representation of what the band is developing, near the record labels.
Meanwhile, the band has won the 2005 Angra Rocks music contest here in Azores Islands what gave them the opportunity to be the opening act for the Italians Exilia. Now the band is finalizing its repertory to start recording his debut album in early 2006.
So it is time to fight and try our luck. Cos its a lifetime dream that we are searching for...
