Stand Defiant are a four-piece punk/hardcore band from Hobart, Tasmania. Blending elements of their early tech and pop punk roots with a love for thrash and hardcore punk, the band have fought fiercely to help build the Tasmanian punk/hardcore community.
Since forming in 2001, Stand Defiant have released 3 CDs. 2003 saw the release of “So-Called Humanity”, which was fully self recorded, printed and sold at live shows. The CD contained 9 tracks of fast catchy punk rock songs and helped the band gain a dedicated following.
In 2004, They released a split with label-mates, The Scandal and featured 4 tracks from each band. Once again, the tracks were fully self recorded and mixed. This CD was to be the first CD on Tasmanian independent punk label Disconnect Records. The songs were more refined than those found on So-Called Humanity, This release was the first that featured Kenny Forshaw on bass.
2006 saw the release of a 6-track EP titled “Our Own Destruction”. This release saw Stand Defiant heading in a more hardcore direction and they embarked on numerous independently booked national tours in support over a 2 year period. The result of which has led to 'Our Own Destruction' selling out of its original pressing.
Stand Defiant's solid live shows seen them support international acts Strike Anywhere, Strung Out, Against Me!, Lagwagon & A Wilhelm Scream. They have also been lucky enough to share the stage with some of Australia's finest bands including Away From Now, Parkway Drive, A Death in the Family, Behind Crimson Eyes, Irrelevant, Conation, Frenzal Rhomb, Stolen Youth, Rex Banner, MDK, Identity theft, Day I Die & I Killed The Prom Queen to name but a few.
2008 saw the band do another national tour in an effort to drum up support for their upcoming debut full length, which is now in the pre-production stage.
