About me:

  • 1) Add us as a friend

  • 2) Register on www.standupday.com (free)

  • 3) Place order for shirts ($10/each)

  • 4) Sign pledge on back of shirt

  • 5) Wear your shirt during each day (we will contact you before each event via email)

  • 6) Help others when you see them getting bullied, or they come to you for support!

  • 7) Rejoice in your own awesomeness

Contrary to most pledges, the GOT YOUR BACK Pledge is taken not only for yourself, but for everyone else in your day to day life.

It clearly identifies you as someone who is against bullying. It tells victims they can come to you for help, and bullies that you will do everything in your power to keep them from bullying others.

"Today I have an obligation.
No longer will I be silent if you need help.
Silence is participation.
I refuse to participate in the problem
We're all different,
but we all deserve respect

If you need help, come to me

If I think you need help,
I'm getting involved.

I got you back.

*Note: You will be contacted before each event to wear your pledge shirt during the day. The shirts are the same for each event so once you have one, you will not need to order a new one for each event!

The event is hosted bi-annually (twice a year) by "Bully Help Initiatives". BHI works on a number of initiatives all aimed at stopping bullying including www.BullyClothing.com (the company that supplies all of the pledge shirts), www.BullyHelp.org and www.IGotBullied.com

Bully Help Initiatives takes a fresh approach to addressing bullying utilizing the philosophy that if it's considered a loser thing to do, it will stop. A major focus has been placed on connecting with individuals with the potential to dictate what is, and what isn't a loser thing to do in the places where bullying occurs. If this is you, help us spread the word so people can avoid being the losers who bully people!

There's a lot of ways to help us spread the word about International STAND UP to Bullying Day and the GOT YOUR BACK Pledge. Create a YouTube video, add us as a friend here, find us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, write a letter to your local newspaper, send out a group email to friends, put up posters in your school or workplace, however you do it..be creative and make sure people know it's an important thing to do and that it can actually be fun when you get together in taking the STAND. Here's some code you can stick onto your MySpace page or Blog to display the flash banner below!

Organization for International STAND UP to Bullying Day began back in January of 2007. The first event was set for November 2007, BUT in September of 2007, two guys named Travis Price and David Shepherd took a clever STAND for a fellow student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt by buying a ton of pink tank tops for everyone else in their class. The day after the student was bullied for having a pink shirt on, everyone showed up wearing pink tank tops. The situation was such a good example of a non-confrontational way to take a STAND against bullying, that we postponed the first event until February 15, 2008 and made all of the STAND UP Pledge shirts pink from that point on.

The first event was a little hectic with an incredible demand for pledge shirts that lead to a number of orders showing up late. A second STAND took place on February 29th for those who missed the first.

The next event took place on November 21st, 2008 and was a huge success involving more than 1000 schools, workplaces, clubs, and organizations representing almost a million people!

The next STAND will take place on November 20th, 2009. STAND UP Pledge shirts are the same for each event, so please have yours ready for the next event. You will be notified via email in the days leading up to the event to get it prepared. If you do not already have a pledge shirt to sign and wear, they are available after registering to STAND UP on the official website www.standupday.com

Shirts are $10 each plus $2 shipping and handling (or £5+£1.50 for UK orders).

My daughter goes to Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Fl. She has been under attack on and off for three months now. I have been to the school repeated times. She has missed over 20 days of school this year because of this! We have legislation in place that is suppposed to protect her...yet all I get are empty promises of suspensions and punishment. Nothing has been done. This system and these students are robbing her of her education and right to feel safe.
    I WILL MAKE A STAND!!!

It is about time someone did something about psychotic bullies! Abuse is abuse and the trivializing comments of "You know how kids are" is no longer acceptable. Keep up the good work. From someone who was abused relentlessly in school...THANK YOU ALL!!!

WELCOME STAND UP to Bullying Day.

    THANK YOU FOR JOINING US.

We would like to welcome you to let’s stop bullying
Our purpose is to help and support as many victims of bullying and the
    Families as we can.
People are bullied for many reasons and it is not always playground bullying.
It can happen to all ages and the effects can stay will the victim for many years. Of course we cannot hope to eliminate bullying altogether, but if by creating more awareness to the affects of bullying, we can show some of our friends that there are people who care and want to help them by guiding them in the right direction to get the help they need.

Thank you again, the more friends the stronger the voice.

Baz and Bella @ Let’s stop Bullying.
