My name is Yvonne Mason. I am an author and Stan's sister. This site is not about me as the author. It is about my hero, my inspiration - my brother.

I wrote "Dream Catcher, Failure Was Never An Option" so the world would know what an impact this wonderfully challenged man has had on it.

Stan was born July 13,1952. I was 18 months old. When he was nine months old he got the flu which turned into encephlitus. He went into seizures and then a coma. The doctors told my mother to be prepared to either bury him or put him away in an asylum if he did come out of the coma. She was told he would never be more than a vegetable.

My mother refused to listen to the doctors. She refused to believe that this baby would not survive. She also refused to believe he would be no more than a vegetable.

Stan did wake up from the coma. Stan was more than a vegetable. He had senses. He could see, hear, smell, and to the doctors' surprise, he learned more.

No one, not even doctors know the depth of the human spirit, the depth of determination or the depth of one person's ability to learn after the brain is damaged. They have no idea how much the brain is capable of healing and regenerating.

Stan was proof that doctors are not always right. He was proof that one should not be quick to write off a person just because there is brain damage.

Stan's Story is the story or Stan's success at a time when failure was the only option. When the standard was to hide those who were different. Stan's Story is a story of inspiration, love, sacrifice, belief, faith, hope and the belief that all of us are here for a purpose.
