A Star 61 surgiu em meados de 2003 e desde então não pára de acontecer. Criada por Flaviano André, nos vocais, letras, músicas, violão e guitarra, a banda é atualmente composta por Thiago Sombra no baixo, Ruy na bateria, Rieg Wasa na guitarra e Herlon nos teclados. O grupo aposta na idéia simples e funcional de Flaviano, em sintetizar experiências, encontrando no feeling os elementos essenciais para suas composições. O resultado é empatia imediata à primeira audição. Para entender essa química, imagine a junção do glamour de artistas como T-Rex e David Bowie, composições à la jovem guarda e performances estilo Secos e Molhados, tudo isso numa só banda. Difícil? Não. A proposta da STAR 61 é exatamente reviver esse brilho e criatividade de décadas passadas, tudo com bastante irreverência e toques de novo milênio. E, lógico, atitude rock.

A Star 61 surgiu em meados de 2003 em João Pessoa (PB). São 6 anos de história tocando por todo o Brasil e nos mais importantes festivais do país, como o Festival MADA(natal), Abril Pro Rock(recife), O festival do laboratório pop(Rio de janeiro), Claro que é rock(São Paulo), e tantos outros shows tão significantes quanto a vontade de continuar alçando vôos mais longos. Os shows são hoje a maior forma de divulgação da banda. Sempre muito comentados e divertidos, conseguem arrancar aplausos de qualquer tipo de público. Prova disso foi a participação do grupo no festival MADA, em Natal/RN, sendo apontado pela imprensa nacional como a revelação do evento; e Abril Pro Rock, em Recife/PE, coroada com a vitória da etapa Recife do festival nacional Claro Q é Rock, com o prêmio de 15 mil reais em instrumentos musicais e show na grande final do concurso, em São Paulo, abrindo para bandas do porte de Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails e Iggy Pop.
Tamanha exposição rendeu ao grupo participações em programas de rádio como o Grind, da Rádio MixBrasil e apresentações de casa cheia no projeto Loca, que reúne mais de mil pessoas por domingo e no projeto 2em1, abrindo para Bide ou Balde no Blen Blen, uma das principais casas de show de São Paulo, e ainda a participação no Festival Laboratório Pop - O Novo Rock do Brasil, que reuniu no Teatro Odisséia da Lapa, no Rio de Janeiro, 34 bandas independentes de todo o país, no qual foram gravados CD e DVD ao vivo, lançados nacionalmente pela gravadora carioca Performance Be Records. Ainda no currículo, a banda tem a indicação ao prêmio Dynamite de Música Independente, na categoria 'Banda Revelação 2005, isso sem falar na constante participação da Star 61 em Festivais de sua cidade e pelo Nordeste, a exemplo do Radiola Acústico, em Sergipe, entre outros projetos.
Com tantas conquistas e com um público já tradicional e cativo, a banda continua fazendo shows . Isto é só mais uma amostra do que a Star 61 ainda quer festejar... e haja purpurina!

The constellation of Star 61 exploded into our universe in the middle of 2003 and ever since hasn't stopped expanding. Founded by Flaviano André, vocalist, composer and rhythm-guitarist, the band is composed now by Thiago Sombra on bass, Ruy on the drums, Rieg Wasa on guitar and Herlon ..board. The group bets on the simple and functional idea of Flaviano, in materializing experiences, soul searching the essential elements for compositions. The result is immediate empathy to the first hearing. To understand that chemistry, imagine dumping glam artists as T-Rex and David Bowie, Secos e Molhados' performance style in a big artistic mixing tub. Difficult? No. The idea of STAR 61 is exactly to revive that sparkle, shine and creativity of last decades, along with with plenty irreverence and sprinkles of the new millennium. And, of course, rock and roll attitude.
Concerts are now-a-days the largest form of promotion of the band. Always very commented and entertaining, they get applauded by any public. They proved this statement with their participation in MADA festival, in Natal/RN, being extremely well received and noticed by the national press as the revelation and star of the event; and April Pro Rock, in Recife/PE, crowned with the victory of the stage in Recife's national festival "Claro Q é Rock", with the prize of 15 thousand Real in musical instruments and great opportunity to perform in São Paulo, opening for bands like Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails and Iggy Pop.
The big exhibition show put Star 61 on popular radio shows such as Grind on Rádio MixBrasil and presentations for the project Loca that gathers more than a thousand people per Sunday and in the project 2em1, opening for Bide ou Balde in Blen Blen, one of the principal venues of São Paulo, and still participating in the Festival Pop Laboratory - THE New Rock of Brazil, that took place in the Odisséia da Lapa theater in Rio de Janeiro. 34 independent bands of the whole country, in which a CD and live DVD were recorded, given out nationally by the recording company Performance Be Records. The band has also won the prize of "Banda Revelação" in 2005 by Dynamite of Independent Music. If you thought that they stopped in time and space, you are wrong. Star 61 is constantly participating in Festivals, especially in the Northeast of Brazil, for example, the Acoustic Radiola in Sergipe and other big names!
With so many battles won and with a steady fan base and responsive public, the band continues playing concerts . That is only one more sample that Star 61 still wants to celebrate and make the world sparkle a little more with a touch of glitter and glam! * discovered by Bessel, the 61st star of the constellation of the Swan (Cygni), is the about 64 trillion miles away from the Earth.
