Hundred-Bullet-Proof... ahh, yes... yet another fancy-schmancy, odd-but-witty album title, following in the footsteps of their last outing, Flash-Arrows & The Money Shot! The riff-ready, copious de melodious musical machine that is Star Collector brings forth their fourth long-player, co-produced by ex-Grapes Of Wrath frontman Kevin Kane (The Salteens, Zumpano) & singer/hack-axeman Vic Wayne. On Hundred-Bullet-Proof, the boys continue to embrace decadent 70s Americana while maintaining their unabashed love of British power-pop. This time, however, the heavy is heavier, the moody, moodier and the psychedelic, well, psychedelicer! (yeah, yeah we know thats not a real word but its fun to say and, what is this anyway, an album promo or Scrabble?!?)
Engineered by Ryen Froggatt (Grapes Of Wrath, Neko Case) at Profile & Komrade Studios & featuring Kevin Kane on guitars & female gospel choir & Adam East on mandolin & Garfunkel harmonies, the entire album was recorded AND mixed in just 15 days. Holy Sheeiite! really?! Yep, really, really (insert Shrek impression here) AND it was mastered by Chris Potter (Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan) so lie backpour a glass of fine red, dim the lights & TURN YOUR STEREO UP FREAKIN LOUD!! Filled with axe-godliness thats "beyond sick, bro!", a rhythm section that squares off Entwistle/Moon against Jones/Bonham for fun & profit (& the next round of drinks), & "Vics pure lyrical genius" (quote by Vic's mom (2006)), Star Collector's Hundred-Bullet-Proof will have you chanting, "We will.. we will Rock you, eh?" for these Canadian lads!
The band's third album, Flash-Arrows & The Money Shot (2003) was their introduction to the international stage as they toured to L.A. & Europe twice to support it. Also co-produced by Kevin Kane, it helped the band land Distribution in the U.S. & Japan and it received rave reviews in Canada, U.S., UK & Germany. The songs, Love And All It Kills, Overpass, Bounty On The Mutiny, Start To Shine & Another Pop Clich all received radio & internet radio play from CFOX (Vancouver) to Popism (Yugoslavia) to Lord Litters Playlist (UK) to Plastico Elastico (Spain) to Not Lame Podcasts (U.S.).
