Stare at the Sun can be described as an indie rock band…with a side dish of funk. With its influences ranging from Death Cab For Cutie to 311, Broken Social Scene to Incubus, Stare at the Sun is able to encapsulate the music of a whole generation and produce melodic, powerful songs that appeal to a wide range of listeners.
Stare at the Sun began in January 2oo6 as a side-project between Rob and Sage; the original name was Silent Via Severity. Rob and Sage were involved with seperate bands at the time, but they began to write together more and more as their other bands were starting to split up. By March, they had 3 songs recorded, but they needed at least one more member to perform live. This is when Evan joined the band.
By August 2oo6 the three members had a full length album done, and from then until the new year, they played a great deal of shows. At that point, the band began recording their second LP, and that is what you hear playing. During the summer of 2oo7, Shawn was added as a fourth member, solidifying what the band is today.
Stare at the Sun released their new album in March on iTunes and Amazon. The band would like to thank all of those people who have supported them in any way, and they look forward to seeing you at the next show.
Stare at the Sun were our guests on our highest rated show of all time, playing solid acoustic tracks in the studio as well as being outrageous and very fun guests. Their willingness to perform and drive succeed became clear very early into the appearance that was driven by professionalism with a desire to have fun and play great music. I'd have them back anytime!
