The uniqueness of Starecase 27 does not lie in their ability to deliver an excellent and engaging live performance. Like many of their predecessors, the capacity for this presentation comes naturally. Rather, it is the quality original material and the distinct manners in which each member approaches the music that are exclusive to this group. Jason Walker, the frontman and songwriter, provides lyrics with an unmatched authenticity. Undoubtedly, he achieves this by drawing heavily upon his life experiences and Mississippi background. Guitarist Matthew Wood incorporates a large spectrum of tonality, combining smooth, rich textures with edgy note slashes. This exceptional guitar technique is immediately evident upon the first listen. Perhaps the most unique and schooled musician in the band is bassist Steve Auttonberry, whose plethora of talent and experience proves invaluable to the group dynamic. Auttonberry facilitates a musical binding and raises the bar with his innovative and unyielding grooves. Nick Norris rounds out the lineup on drums by pounding out a solid beat and comfortably contributing an equally steady vocal. His well rounded and versatile musicianship is certainly a strong asset. Feeling and rhythm seem to find new meaning in the context of this band. The songs are crafted to cover a wide range of emotions, and the music is precisely entwined with the words and melodies to effectively communicate the mood. Walker’s touching lyric in "Carli," a song he wrote in loving memory of his sister, conveys strong feelings of grief and sorrow. The well placed ballads are contrasted by the upbeat numbers, like “Come and Save Me” and “My Own Way,” an enthusiastic expression of a newly found independence. Listeners connect well with these genuine, sincere songs. They are radio friendly and have a mainstream sensibility to please even the harshest critics. Since 2001, Starecase 27 has performed in large and small venues all across the country, delighting crowds from Nevada to Florida. They have had the opportunity to host events such as The Singer-Songwriters Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. Starecase 27 possesses all the elements to establish a massive following: poise, confidence, personality, image, and talent. With strong material to present, a sound work ethic, and a relentless ambition to achieve commercial success; the future is limitless for Starecase 27.
