“How to paint a portrait of Starfish Yoga”
The canvas is basically alternative rock; but the distinct sound really begins when you brush a base of deep, pulsing groove, and speckle a few dots of brief chaos. Then apply a liberal and depthful foundation, meticulously splattered with jazz chords and inversions throughout. Smear the corners with passion and purpose, and blend different levels of intensity into the canvas, including the hard-hitting jams with the quieter emotional moments. And finally, coat the entire portrait with melody that gives your eye the “pop” it wants to see.
This is Starfish Yoga.
From what began in March 2008 as the aspiring solo project of Narayan Singh, Starfish Yoga has transmuted into an ambitious group that is determined to serve as a powerful source of change, depth, and inspiration for receptive individuals across the entire globe.
With creativity carved from many musical facets, this band is bringing an emotional charge and depth to music that is found only in the most prized music of the ages.
“Our goal is to leave people vibrating after listening to our music…” says Singh, “…Vibrating because we have resonated so deeply within the core of individuals, that we inspire them to pursue their own passions and spread love and positivity to other individuals. We want listeners to feel emotions that they may have never felt before.”
One can describe a Starfish Yoga experience as passionate, depthful, inspirational, groovy, and emotional. There is a freedom and expression that occurs during a Starfish Yoga experience, which is rarely tapped into by most modern-day musicians. This could be due to the combination of talents and musical backgrounds that each member brings to Starfish Yoga.
Singh is the jazz influence, melodic, energetic and emotional depth, and “catchy” flavor of the band, where Bassist Dan Spataro brings in the soulful, solid groove factor, partly due to his east coast hip-hop influence. When combined, Singh and Spataro create powerful, dramatic, driving energy, propelling the band forward into a state of groovy, emotional bliss.
Carved from real life experience, spirituality, intent, passion, and the dreams in the minds of many, Starfish Yoga plays from the heart and radiates from the soul, and when they succeed, the whole world will be vibrating from the music that Starfish Yoga creates.

Hey Narayan, Adam JUST told me I still had time ot turn in the shirt. SO I am just gunna get my sketch book from school and than I'll send you it tomorrow night at the latest. :] -Britt
Yea haha, I saw how exited you were to see those dogs from that video; what kind of dogs are they?
I have a little crack from a rock in my windshield, here's hoping it doesn't get bigger.
The kind of people I seem to attract are..."not sane" (as one of my friends described). As far as males go, they're needy and SEEM to want to be friends and out of nowhere they talk about relationships and what not. The rest are mostly bullshit (pardon the language). My friend, let's call her Jill, well "Jill" has her own agenda and needs to look up the definition of "friend". But that's how it goes in Henderson, a small town with stupid people. Them's the breaks.
At some Casino, I can't remember the name, but if I heard it I'm sure I would. It sounds like some kind of cocktail drink, haha.
I'm hardly interesting, I lead a boring life...as of right now, my current interest is watching House. I don't think it gets more boring that, :P .
SO as far as your adventures go, I gather you've been encountering LOADS of weird...erm..."unique" people...any ones that stick out? My bet is on the burping musician.
Surprising your dad, that's sweet. I had no idea you were Indian, that's kinda neat. I'm gathering he's a teacher/professor.
Reading through that comment, I'm tempted to re-write it to make it less esoteric, but I can't really be arsed (my apologies), I'm operating off of a few hours of sleep. Yet I'm wired. Which is weird for me. (everything seems to be weird, I feel like I've used that time and time again throughout this inane comment).
So...that guy...was for real? I'll have to refuse to believe that. I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that was 100%. His half-assed guitar playing left little to be desired. However your performance was kind of awesome. It restored my hope for those playing haha.
These past two weeks have been fairly decent. The father moved back into town so I'm trying help him out with the house and dogs. That's probably been my favorite part of these past two weeks, seeing the puppies. I missed them something crazy. I've reconnected with old friends, bought some outrageously priced transmission fluid for my car (it's leaking, but this should help it a bit until I can get it fixed), an old...acquaintance is performing tomorrow at Penny Lane so I'm excited about that, and I'm in the middle re-evaluating my current friends and the type of people I seem to attract.
Oh, and my friend wants to fly me out to Vegas while he performs there for a few weeks (he's in a Beatles tribute band, so that's cool I guess)...I probably won't go, but it's a nice thought. So basically, in a nutshell, it's been boring and asinine things and I hope it didn't just put you to sleep reading it.
Fill me in on all these wild and interesting things you've been involved in if you will. I'm curious and I need some excitement in my life, even if I'm "living" vicariously through someone else.
oh wow your first time in long beach?! hope you had a good time. that was my first time at portfolios, it was pretty interesting lol. i guess theres an ongoing debate there over whether or not that guys accent is real. are you gonna go again? some of my friends go every week so im probably going to start going with them.
